Problem with dell inspiron 6000

I was recently attacked by multiple malicious virus' on my dell laptop. I tried nearly every spyware program out there but none of them would remove it without making me pay around 30$. My dad told be about an ability of dell computers to be able to reset to the factory settings one time. So I looked it up and found how to do it. Ctrl + F11 at the BIOS screen. So i did it and it worked....well i thought it did. It would start and then right after it said it i tried again a couple times....nothing. I found out my roommate has the windows xp reinstal disc. So I used that to reformat my hardrive and instal windows.... when windows opened up nothing worked....then i realized that the cd was meant to be used to restore as desktop pc.... so none of my laptop functions work....hibernation, standby, wireless, sound, and my screen resolution is all wrong.... the max i can set it to is 1024x768 when before (and what is should be for my widescreen laptop) it was 1280x800....

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a reinstallation cd i can download somewhere?

Thanks for the help. I went on dells website and found the info for my computer and i think i downloaded the right drivers for most of the stuff. I was able to get my screen res fixed, internet working, and a couple other things. But the one thing that really is just not working for is my bluetooth mouse. My computer can find the mouse and my phone and can add them. But when I try to use the mouse it says it doesn't have a driver for it. So i went to look at the manufacturers website and it says that it doesn't need a what do i do? I also can't get some laptop functions to work....Like hibernate or standby. Thanks for any help

You have to add the bluetooth mouse to the system. It can be done by right licking on the bluetooth icon found on the task bar on area where you see the time and click on add bluetooth device. Pair the bluetooth m ouse and it should work fine.

Reformatting drives cleans up your disc. Or shall we say when done reformatting, you started from scratch. That is if you install a fresh copy of Windows. Now, doing that, you should reinstall all the drivers needed for your laptop to have the functions working again. Your screen resolution matter, it can be 1280x800 again if you install the graphics driver of your laptop. To avoid this kind of problem again, you should install updated full version of antivirus.

This sounds like you may have a virus running up cpu time or a trojan of some sort, try running a virus check Antivir is a good free virus cleaner, also run spybot search and destroy to look for spyware. sometimes viruses attack windows system files to keep you from being able to get rid of them.

I had to recover my computer after a virus attacked it but now when i try to reinstall my microsoft webcam vx 6000 a error always occur and wont let me install. what do i do?

you are not totally remove your virus inside your PC. You remove only the name of the virus but the Registry are not heal yet. It still on the system waiting to attack again. Both Virus & spyware are the same problems. To remove on it you should run a a program such as Spyware Doctor or Trojan Remover. At this time you can install again your Web Cam easily. Good luck!

Uninstall for antivirusxp2008 will NOT work. How do I uninstall

For starters the program you are trying to remove is FAKE!! this is a malware program that doesn't function and tries to get you to "Buy" into it's features. however it will not give you anything in return. not only lulling the user into a false sense of security but often once downloaded also further infect the system

I tend to deal with Malware & spyware using a piece of software called SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY which has consistantly been good and has more than just malware removal tools.
this can be downloaded here

for an in-depth specific "how to remove" guide see here

My computer has a virus

I would go HERE and run the Trend Micro Housecall on your PC. It will remove viruses and spyware from your computer. It's FREE!

Sounds more like spyware with all the pop ups.
