The L indicates that the child lock feature has been enabled. This ensures that the burners do not function while you clean the cook top and that a child can't turn on any burners.
The procedure depends on your cook top model. For some induction models, to toggle the child lock feature off, press the front right burner zone display and the booster function key (circle with a solid circle inside on the right of the selector zone) simultaneously. Then press the front right burner zone display again until the L disappears from the display.
See page 23 of the manual for the Delonghi DEIND804 available here:
https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/public/manuals/Delonghi-DEIND804-Induction-Cooktop-User-Manual.pdf .
For an electric ceramic cooktop DTCH808, to turn off the child lock completely, press the bottom right + in a circle and the - in a circle (in the center surrounded by 4 of the + in a circle areas) simultaneously and then release the keys. Press the - in a circle again. See page 21 of the manual here: https://www.delonghi.com/Global/InstructionManuals/EN/EN-DTCH80B_im.pdf .
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model of your Delonghi cook top if these instructions do not apply to your cook top.
