Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV68 Camcorder

1 Answer

CCD-TRV68-Sony HI8 HandyCam

I have this model which have almost no hour usage on it but it's about 5 years old! It will play back just fine but when you switch to the camera mode the display screen stays black just like the lens cover is on and says standby in the display? The batteries are both in good condition even after 5 years! I'm sure it's probably toast but wanted an expert opinion! Thansk,Mike Wagner

Do the pictures still look this way when they are downloaded to your computer or just when played back on the camera screen? Was the camera exposed to high heat (like being left in a hot car)?

Hi...I have a Sony Hi8 Handycam recorder. It's about 10 years old so it's performed well. We are having trouble with recording. It will only record correctly in outdoor bright light. When I record...

It sounds to me like the aperture is stuck. The aperture is what adjusts to let in more or less light. If it is stuck closed down, it will look fine outside but won't let in enough light inside. Sadly, there is probably nothing you can do about it. You could take it to a camera repair shop, but being 10 years old, you might opt for a new camera instead. I feel your pain!

When i chage the option of oFF to CAMERA nothing turns on and when I change the option OFF to VCR the screen just show strange symbol and SP and it does not work

just so you know, your camera model was included in the list for what we call the "ccd program". this program has ran for 5 years and unfortunately ended march this year. sony gave free repairs for cameras and camcorders affected by the defective ccd imaging sensor before the said date. issue with the camera shows a black or distorted screen in camera mode. but the you should still be able to see the indicators on the screen. when switch to vcr you should be able to play back previous recordings that you made. better to really make sure its a ccd issue, play a tape that you're sure contains a movie recording and play it, then set it to camera mode and see if you get just a black screen. if you try recording using a tape, you may see nothing but should hear the audio part. if this is what's happening we can be sure it's a ccd issue. if your camcorder just won't turn on in camera mode, maybe the power switch turned defective or it can be other parts of the unit that stopped working.if this is the case, then of course, your unit may require service to address the problem.hope this info helps.thanks:)

What do i need to purchase to connect my sony handycam cdd-trv68

You need to download your movies with a Firewire cable, you must make sure your PC or Laptop has this socket, the marking near this socket on your computer has a 3 bladed windmill picture.
Your cable will set you back about £10 at most good camera shops.

Will not play on new RCA LCD TV tried different

Try hooking up your sony handycam to a different monitor or tv to make sure it is putting out a good video signal using an S-Video cable. Then once you know your cords are good and you have a good video signal, hook it back up to the RCA LCD unit. If it is still not working make sure that the RCA LCD is set to receive the Hi8 signal via the S-Video cable. There may be a switch or menu setting on your RCA LCD to accept the Hi8 signal or also refered to as S- Video.

I hoped that helped and good luck!

Making a CD from Sony CCDTRV68 Handycam

I'm using TRV320 camcorder with IEEE 1394 firewire cable 4pin to 6 pin. Your PC also need 1394 firewire plug which should be available in ebay. AV output is for analog signal and you need to use DV in/out plug for digital signal in your camcorder. Good luck -James
