Take out the duct in front of the tank (#3), the hose end will have a duct on it that you insert in its place. This provides the suction for the hose. Don't forget to put that duct you took out back in place, or you won't have suction when you use the steam cleaner.

My aunt lost the instructions to her steam vac, and she never got the chance to read them. Do you know how to operate it?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 Spin Scrub Upright. The best thing to get an owners manual is to download the owner’s manual from the Hoover website or to call your local vac dealer or to call the Hoover Factory / Manufacturer to have them send you out in the mail a new owner’s manual for the model you have listed above . the phone 3 are listed below:
. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.

If you don't have the user's manual for the machine, here it is:

Check your system for any obstructions that could possibly causing the problem. Also, remove the brushes and see if there's a problem between the brushes and the motor.
