Question about GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo
Had trouble getting disc to eject. It finally did, without any intervention. But now drawer won't open at all. Otherwise, unit seems to be okay. There is a "whirring" noise when the eject button is pushed, as if it's trying to open but can't - maybe a broken belt? Can't figure out how to open this unit. Technical support no longer available from the manufacturer. Purchased about 6 yrs. ago.
I opened the back & saw that there were no belts, etc. Put it all back together again, held the DVD door open, focused a bright flashlight into the opening, pressed eject, and saw that there was some sort of little lever(?) on the right that wasn't engaging. So I pushed it with a small sharp object while simultaneously pushing the eject button, and the tray ejected! I will take a chance and try to copy a video to the DVD again, hoping that when it is done I will be able to get the DVD to eject. I have only a few more family videos to copy (luckily I had already done most of them), so hopefully it will continue to work until I have finished the job. Thanks for everyone's ideas & help! I would buy another one of these video -to-DVD machines if it were available, but alas, the only ones I've seen are about 4 times as expensive as this one, and not worth it for the small amount of copying I have left to do.

There are drive gears in the unit and it should not be making a whirring noise. It usually ejects in a second, and thats all of the noise you should hear. There are no belts, or at least not in that portion of the transport. Its probably a plastic gear that has worn down from years of use, or broken from someone trying to force it open.
With the prices of DVD players these days you would not want to have it serviced assuming it is out of warranty. Service is going to cost upwards of 80+parts, whereas I saw a DVD player the other day in Wall mart for 32.00.
Best of luck and Happy New year!
