I recently switched from Dial-Up to DSL, and the DSL is working fine. I have my DSL modem connected to my desktop. I recently got a router so that I can browse the Internet with my laptop. I followed the instructions carefully to connect the router up with the modem and the computer. When I open up either the I.E. browser or the Firefox browser and try to go to 192.168.0.1, the same thing keeps happening with a few exceptions. Both browsers say that they are connecting, but I wait and wait and they don't connect. Only a couple of times did they connect, and when that happened and I got the login page, I enter admin for the id and leave the password field blank per the installation instructions. But it doesn't let me in as though I'm entering and invalid id and password. So this boils down to 2 problems:
1-Getting into the login page, and 2-Logging in when I get there
You seem to be following the correct procedure, so the only thing left to do is re-set the router. My best guess is that the router password was inadvertently changed at some point. Reset to default settings: The following reset procedure will completely restore the default settings on the router including your password.
Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.
Step 2 With the router powered on, press and hold the Reset button.
Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.
Step 4 Release the Reset button.
Step 5 The device is now at factory defaults.
The default username is admin and leave the password blank. You'll need to follow all the steps you performed initially to re-connect to your ISP.
