I also have the same problem, im sure its something to do with the tone arm, like at the start of playing a 12'inch you have to hold the arm at the end of the vinyl for 5 seconds, have i answered my own question, i'll let u know ......

I am trying to play a record on my Aiwa LX-120 turntable but after scanning the record the arm won`t go down.

I'm not certain that you are meant to disengage the FG lock since this means that the turntable has achieved the correct speed. The problem you have is that the arm won't go down.
I don't know to much about the workings of this direct drive turntable. But I can say you can get the service manual free on-line if that helps.

Why does my lenco l90 turntable cut out when near the end of playing a 45

If you search Google for the model manual you will find a PDF of it.

A quick look at it says turn the auto return switch off.

How can I stop the tone arm from returning too early on smaller records?

The adjustment for auto return position is normally at the tone arm base on the left side under a rubber grommet. Use a flat blade screw driver to move adjustment screw, then test. Keep fine tuning until arm lifts at desired position. Cheers John. Stylus City NZ

Hi Lisa, its a bit of a long shot however try this. With the turntable powered of manually rotate the platter approx 12 times to reset the auto operation back to default. John styluscity.com

Recording tracks from vynal stop recording after 1minute

2 solutions, check all hook ups and make sure they ok, 1. see if your turntable can be played thru the stereo like amp or receiver with your audio cords and record that way to cassette tape. 2. if your turntable can go thru computer using usb cord and make sure you have download your software that came with your turntable if it didn't go store and like office max or simlair buy a product called inport deluxe by xitel

Stop button not working properly

Did you get a manual with the unit? Is it set up correctly?

When you initiate a start do you hear the motor startturning (somewhere underneath the platter)? It would be real quiet and vibration-free or it would not be very good for use on a turntable. Is the drive belt attached? See the picture in the link.

What do you mean by the STOP mechanism? What do you mean by ON position?

How many pops? How long?

Manual Motor STOP occurs when the tonearm is swung to the right onto its rest.

As with any turntable the following advice for this one will apply:

The tonearm setup is critical for proper tracking. Do it again with extreme care if mistracking is your problem.

I found one model online and a review with some sample of music. Quite interesting...

http://www.everythingusb.com/ion_ttusb10_usb_turntable_13231.html

The author complained about some things that clearly mark him as a stranger to finer turntables. Complaining about having to assemble and position the 'rubber band', aka the drivebelt, and the tonearm counterweight shows that he underestimates the precision required for a mechanism to rotate at a constant precise speed while properly tracking the microscopic undulations of the groove without skipping into the air or gouging it to death.

Some basics when recording from a turntable...
1) Place the turntable as far from speakers as possible on a solid surface that you will not touch during the recording
2) Keep the volume low enough that airborne sounds don't cause mistracking of the stylus *
3) Avoid anything that will cause vibration or movement of the turntable. (Tip toe)
* If you have a subwoofer, turn it off.

Some advice after reading the article: don't try to save recording time by playing the discs at 45rpm. The best tracking of the disc and recording of the minute details in the grooves will be at the nativespeed of the recording. Digital manipulation later only gloms up the accuracy you probably want.

In general, the fewer the conversions steps in the analog domain, the better; and the fewer the bit rate conversions in the digital domain, the better.

Record will not play to end.

There is a mechanism underneath the deck which senses "end of record". This is operating too early and will require adjustment.

Automatic arm

Wild guess. Sounds like the vertical tracking force is too low and/or the ant-skating is maladjusted.
