No Idea about your boot issues, but I can suggest checking the HP site for a battery recall. It's a bit tough to locate on the site as it is a voluntary recall by HP (they don't want to make free too easy!)

Sounds like you get a virus. If possible back up your data. Format your hard drive and reload your operating system. Load and run anti-virus. Load data and applications. Run anti-virus again. That will leave you will a clean hard drive.

My acer aspire 5742-7620 has been resetting for over 25 hoirs

This is most likely a hardware problem. If it resets by itself after you have logged in then it is probably overheating, due to faulty fans or bad power supply. If it happens right after it boots, then most likely the hard drive is dead.

Try hitting F5 key when it first boots up. Keep hitting it till it goes to a boot up screen where you can choose to log in under "Safe Mode". If you can't do this then it is the hard drive. (Sometimes it can be the RAM, but usually it won't reset itself, normally it will just not boot or you'll have no video.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-

sounds like a booting issue. try taking the battery out to eliminate battery issue. Sometimes a computer will do that if its overheating Get a can of air in there and blow out the processor.

My computer turn on but after a few second turn off. What should I do

You may have some options, depending on at which point it shuts off.
1. If it shuts off at the first screen that typically comes on, you likely have a hardware issue/conflict. 2. If is shuts off during the windows boot screen, you likely have a driver/software issue. You should enter safe mode by holding the "F8" key before windows starts. From there, you can restore to an earlier configuration (you won't lose documents). Do this by clicking start, programs, accessories, system tools, then System Restore.

Tecra A4 Will not boot from CD, Floppy, or HD after POST

Hi !
How much time(seconds) it takes to shut down after you turn it on?

First try to put your battery out and then try to boot on AC power only. It might be an bad power supply and empty battery that can't be charged.
If you have the same problem, then check if the power button is damaged or dirty and stays pressed even when you release it.
Find if you can hear some noise from the fan(s) inside and check if the cooling holes are closed with dirt and dust. Might be the fans are not running or fan holes closed that make some components (e.g. processor) to get wormer than they should be!

On my laptop the vent fan starts then stop and the power goes out

These machines have a terrible overheating problem! You will have to clean the fan opening and, put sylicon grease on the heat pipe and, heatsink that covers the cpu

Hm, maybe your bios battery is dead. Try to buy a new one, and boot than boot it. A bios battery is usually under the keyboard.

The laptop doesn't boot up always.

I would try the following:
1. Remove the battery completely. If the computer boots properly several times in a row, then the battery may be causing the power supply to do strange things.
2. If you have experience removing laptop components, try removing the hard drive. Because you say the screen goes black (I assume the system powers off) sometimes after the HP logo, I doubt its Windows or a software issue.
3. If HP has a diagnostic CD you can boot to, try that.
4. It may be the power supply acting up. If it charges the battery, and if you can boot to Windows with the battery, try getting a new power supply.
5. Otherwise, it may be the motherboard of the laptop.
