No Idea about your boot issues, but I can suggest checking the HP site for a battery recall. It's a bit tough to locate on the site as it is a voluntary recall by HP (they don't want to make free too easy!)

Sounds like you get a virus. If possible back up your data. Format your hard drive and reload your operating system. Load and run anti-virus. Load data and applications. Run anti-virus again. That will leave you will a clean hard drive.

My acer aspire 5742-7620 has been resetting for over 25 hoirs

This is most likely a hardware problem. If it resets by itself after you have logged in then it is probably overheating, due to faulty fans or bad power supply. If it happens right after it boots, then most likely the hard drive is dead.

Try hitting F5 key when it first boots up. Keep hitting it till it goes to a boot up screen where you can choose to log in under "Safe Mode". If you can't do this then it is the hard drive. (Sometimes it can be the RAM, but usually it won't reset itself, normally it will just not boot or you'll have no video.

Tried to reset bios password by removing internal battery. Nothing changed. It's a model L505 GS6000 and it's only 6 days out of warranty. Toshiba says they are not going to help me without charging me!...

Hi Friend, I understand that your Toshiba Motherboard is not releasing the password even after removal of CMOS Battery. Well, to resolve this issue, I would suggest you to power off your system completely by unplugging the power form the main socket on the wall remove the battery and short the two contacts of the battery socket for 3 or more seconds and release the short. Now, wait for 10 or more seconds and reinstall the battery in the socket and see, your problem is resolved or not. If not, please get back to me.

My computer turn on but after a few second turn off. What should I do

You may have some options, depending on at which point it shuts off.
1. If it shuts off at the first screen that typically comes on, you likely have a hardware issue/conflict. 2. If is shuts off during the windows boot screen, you likely have a driver/software issue. You should enter safe mode by holding the "F8" key before windows starts. From there, you can restore to an earlier configuration (you won't lose documents). Do this by clicking start, programs, accessories, system tools, then System Restore.

Hm, maybe your bios battery is dead. Try to buy a new one, and boot than boot it. A bios battery is usually under the keyboard.

The laptop doesn't boot up always.

I would try the following:
1. Remove the battery completely. If the computer boots properly several times in a row, then the battery may be causing the power supply to do strange things.
2. If you have experience removing laptop components, try removing the hard drive. Because you say the screen goes black (I assume the system powers off) sometimes after the HP logo, I doubt its Windows or a software issue.
3. If HP has a diagnostic CD you can boot to, try that.
4. It may be the power supply acting up. If it charges the battery, and if you can boot to Windows with the battery, try getting a new power supply.
5. Otherwise, it may be the motherboard of the laptop.

Acer laptop won't boot up

Try booting the laptop with the battery removed while the laptop is plugged into the wall outlet. Acer has a weird problem sometimes with the battery preventing it from booting. Sometimes it will get as far as logging into windows and then act crazy, slow down, and freeze.

Good luck!
