Question about HTC G1

Setup for mass storage on phone wont work

To setup mass storage on your G1 phone the manual says to Connect the USB cord that came with the phone from your G1 to your Computer, on the home screen of your phone select menu, then select settings, then go to SD Card & Phone Storage, after that it says to choose Use for USB storage, but my phone does not have that as an option on that page it just says
1. Total Space
2. Available space
3. Unmount/Eject SD Card
4. Available Space
5. Factory data reset

i would like to know what i need to do to get that missing option

When i plug in my htc g1 phone to my computer, it is not recognized by the computer. why is that?

To transfer files from your computer to your phone's storage card, you need to set the phone's storage card as a USB drive. Connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable, and open the notifications panel. Tap USB connected and then tap Mount, the phone will appear as an external USB drive in your computer.

Hope this help.

In pictures format where does the sd card go for the tmobile htc G1 phone

Hi Elizabeth617,
Here's how you access the pictures from your SD card:
  • Connect your G1 to your computer via USB
  • Pull down the notification menu and select "USB connected: Select to copy files to/from your computer."
  • "Turn on USB storage"
  • Now open your phone in a folder on your computer
  • You will see a folder that says DCIM (This is where your pictures are stored)
  • Open DCIM and view the pictures in the folder Camera

I can't figure out how to get music from my computer to my new google phone

Before connecting the USB lead you must Un-mount the SD card in the phone. To do this you need to go to settings\sd card &phone storage\ unmount or eject sd card. Once this is done connect the USB lead and your computer should find new mass storage device and label it as an exrternal drive. Simply drag and drop your music into the music folder on the new drive.

Note: When youve finished you need to go back to the phone and mount the drive back on the phone following the same steps I described at the begging.

Hope this helps. Karl

My g1 wont install on vista?

ok people i have solved the problem with the g1 not recognizing being hooked up to the computer. the usb cords that are sent with the g1 are very crappy. use another usb mini to connect to your computer. theres no installation required just hook it up and select mount and open up my computer and go to removable disk to access you files.

Option to use SD card as usb not available

I found the solution to that problem its because something was deleted when updated but heres how it works. first connect usb to phone and then connect usb to computer as soon as you do that on your phone select menu and then select notifications and then usb connect and everything should be fine.
Good Luck.
