To setup mass storage on your G1 phone the manual says to Connect the USB cord that came with the phone from your G1 to your Computer, on the home screen of your phone select menu, then select settings, then go to SD Card & Phone Storage, after that it says to choose Use for USB storage, but my phone does not have that as an option on that page it just says 1. Total Space 2. Available space 3. Unmount/Eject SD Card 4. Available Space 5. Factory data reset

To transfer files from your computer to your phone's storage card, you
need to set the phone's storage card as a USB drive. Connect the phone
to the computer using the USB cable, and open the notifications panel.
Tap USB connected and then tap Mount, the phone will appear as an external USB drive in your computer.
connect usb cord to lap top (usb cord comes with the g1) it should say usb connected at the very top slide down tap where is "select to copy files to/from your computer" it should ask mount or dont mount tap mount and it is a cake walk from there
dont no if this helps but worth a try, on ur phone go 2 phone settings > connectivity > USB connection mode > chamge it to mass storage. then re-connect it 2 ur comp and will will show up as a mass storage device where u can do the drag and drop option. only problem is it transfers media from ur phone but dont no how i can get things off memory card without having 2 transfer them 2 phone memory first.
try these drivers www.pcleeds.com/drivers.html install the drivers then remove the cable from your phone goto settings connectivity and set you phone from data suite to mass storage then plug your usb back in the phone should now be found as a mass storage device
Before connecting the USB lead you must Un-mount the SD card in the phone. To do this you need to go to settings\sd card &phone storage\ unmount or eject sd card. Once this is done connect the USB lead and your computer should find new mass storage device and label it as an exrternal drive. Simply drag and drop your music into the music folder on the new drive.
Note: When youve finished you need to go back to the phone and mount the drive back on the phone following the same steps I described at the begging.
ok people i have solved the problem with the g1 not recognizing being hooked up to the computer. the usb cords that are sent with the g1 are very crappy. use another usb mini to connect to your computer. theres no installation required just hook it up and select mount and open up my computer and go to removable disk to access you files.
I found the solution to that problem its because something was deleted when updated but heres how it works. first connect usb to phone and then connect usb to computer as soon as you do that on your phone select menu and then select notifications and then usb connect and everything should be fine. Good Luck.
