Turn the console off then on

If this does not resolve the issue put the disk back in you may of turned it off during a save period and hence it asks for it back.

If you remove a game from the wii before going to the home menu - It will display a prompt demanding the disc.

My disks are not playing. It states. An error has occurred. Press the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the wii off and refer to the operations manual. I have tried everything

i am having this same problem.... found this bit of info, hope it helps.

The most common reason for the Wii not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Wii including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Wii going again!

How to Rip Nintendo Wii Games: VIDEO GUIDE OPEN HERE>>>

If you want to rip, or back up, games for your Nintendo Wii, it's not going to be easy. Nintendo Wii and Gamecube disks both spin in the opposite direction from normal disks to prevent them from being ripped. But there is a way to get around this by ripping the game directly from the Wii onto an SD card.

Step 1 Make sure your Wii is modified with a Wiikey. Without one, you will not be able to rip games for it. You can have Wiikey installed for you, or install it yourself.
  • Step 2 Plug in the Gecko adapter and SD card into your Wii's Gamecube memory card slot. It will then ask you to load a disk.
  • Step 3 Load whatever Wii or Gamecube game you want to rip. It will save the files on the SD card, but the card is too small to fit the whole game. Once it has dumped all the information it can hold, you must remove the SD card and put the files on your computer. Erase the card and put it back in the memory card slot and continue copying the game's information. For a Wii game you will have to do this three times.
  • Step 4 Once you have the entire game on your computer, they will be in usually three separate pieces. Combine them into one file.
  • Step 5 Burn the game file onto a 4.7 GB DVD disk and play it on your Wii. Due to the Wii's protection software, only modified Wii's can play ripped Wii games.

My nintendo wii says an error ocurred when i put a disc in

first the obvious if ur new to wii.... make sure the picture side of the disc is the on the right side when you insert it (facing outwards)
"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message
Playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Click here for specific help.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:

    • If your Wii console is laying flat, it may be positioned upside down. Ensure that is positioned right-side up: the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.

    • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc.

    dd0311d.gif
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards
If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures
Cleaning a Game Disc Fingerprints, smudges, and other foreign material can interfere with a game disc being properly read by the Wii console. Please use the information on this page to properly clean a dirty Game Disc.
    Important Notes (please read first):

    • Use only: straight strokes when wiping the disc (do not use a circular motion).
    • Use only: a clean, soft, cotton cloth (do not use paper towels, facial tissue, etc.).
    • Use only: water (do not use soap or any other cleaning solution).

    • Do NOT use: solvents such as: benzine, window cleaner, paint thinner, anti-static aerosol spray or abrasive cleaners.
    • Do NOT use: machines designed to clean discs or remove scratches. These types of devices could damage the surface of the disc.
    Properly cleaning a game disc:

    1. Dampen a portion of a clean, soft, cotton cloth, using only plain water.

    2. With the damp part of the cloth, use straight strokes and wipe the bottom of the disc (non-labeled side) from the inside rim to the outside rim.
    1. Using a dry part of the cloth, use straight strokes and wipe from the inside rim to the outside rim.

    2. After all of the water has been removed, let the disc sit for at least two minutes to completely dry before inserting it into the Wii console.

    3. Try to play the game to see if the problem has been resolved.
      • If the problem has been resolved, be sure to properly take care of your game discs by storing them in their plastic cases in order to help prevent your discs from becoming dirty or scratched. Storing games in cases other than the ones they came in, or storing them outside their cases, may damage the disc.
      • If the same problem continues, the cause is likely damage to the disc. Use the disc replacement policy to determine how to get your game replaced.
      • If the game never worked or you are discovering errors in areas you have entered for the first time, it is possible that the problem could be with the system or the disc. (The system may still be the problem even if the disc shows some signs of damage.) Please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss possible repair options.
If you are occasionally experiencing disc read errors, you may want to consider purchasing the Wii Lens Cleaner.

If the Wii is having trouble with a disk, it means there's either a problem with the disk or the Wii. If your Wii can't read any disks then you'll want to contact Nintendo. Otherwise you need to investigate your disk. If you hold the bottom side of the disk to the light you should be able to see if there's a smudge or scratch. If it's a smudge, cleaning the disk will often fix the problem. I like to use the microfiber cloths used to clean eyeglasses or, short of that, a tissue. Just rub the smudged spot. (When using a tissue I generally steam up the spot with my breath first.) Don't exert more force than necessary; it's a flimsy disk, not a kitchen sink. If the disk looks good, put it back into the Wii and see what happens.
A scratch is more problematic. If it's a game you just bought, try exchanging it where you bought it. Otherwise you can try polishing out the scratch.

    good luck...
