Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

WATER WON'T COME OUT OF THE DISPENSER IN THE DOOR

When you push the lever the water wont come out. I disconected the line below the front of the fridge just before it goes into the hinge and when you push the lever water pumps out. When connected, I hear the switch clicking on but nothing comes out. I tried disassembling everything I could to get to the line inside the door but there is no way to get to it. I t seems that the inside of the freezer door is sort of "foamed" in place. It is one solid piece. It is a GE H5525GFPE WW. I could not find this model number on the internet anywhere. I am pretty mechanically minded and usually fix everything myself so I am frustrated with this thing! Thanks for your help!!

Check the solenoid valve in the back of the fridge near the water supply connection. If you don't hear any clicking from back there when you press the lever, then the valve is probably bad. Open the back and look for two valves in an assembly - one for ice and one for water. Sometimes the solenoid coil burns open in one or the other, and you have to replace the whole assembly. You can disconnect the solenoids and check for continuity with an ohmeter. It's not a complicated repair. Good luck!

At back of unit I disconnected line and get water and I know that the switch works but no water comes out front?

When you push in the water dispenser do you hear two clicks? The first click is the switch in the front. The second click is the solenoid in the back. The solenoid has to open to let water through. If you don't hear that second click then it is most likely the solenoid.
If you remove the grill below the fridge doors you will find a plastic line and a coupling. disconnect the coupling. Push the dispenser arm in and see if water comes out. If it does then you have a frozen water line in the freezer door. Most likely it is frozen right below the ice cube dispenser door as it sometimes leaks out cold air if it does not shut properly. You can use a heat gun or hair dryer to thaw the line. Be careful not to melt any of the components.
If you do not get water out of the line at the coupling then it may be frozen in the fridge cooling coil. This is rare and usually only happens if you run your fridge on a very cold setting.

No Water from Door

Same problem with mine, no water, but could hear humming when pushing dispense lever. There is a coupler in the water line below the freezer door, I pulled it and opened it*, water came out when actuating the dispense lever. So it wasn't frozen between there and the wall, had to be frozen inside the freezer door. Solution? Turn off freezer side of the fridge and leave door open for an hour or two, voila, water in door again. *little blue coupler, push white collar in towards blue plastic to release line, push line back in all the way to replace it. This line has pressure only when dispensing water, and then not much pressure.

GE Refrigerators - Water dispenser not working ? I

remove front grill then disconnect the water line at the quick connector. Place line on right side into container and push lever for water. If no water flows the problem is a solenoid on the left side of the back of refrig behind lower panel. If water flows into container the problem is related to freezing of the water line in the freezer door. GE fix is a $500 plus door replacement. Thaw from back of door behind the dispenser with hair dryer (do not get plastic too hot). Cheap fix is to insulate back of door with insulation such as a foam sleeping bag mat or the foil and bubble wrap type of ducy insulation

Hello, If you can see the water line inside the freezer case you might try using a hair blow dryer to try to thaw it out to get water flowing again? Good Luck! Dr. Know

Samsungrs21dcns water dispenser problem

just below the doors of the frig is a kick plate. remove the kick plate. on the left youll see a water line that goes into the freezer door. there is a connection for that hose just under the freezer. disconect the hose the press the water dispenser. if water comes out of the hose then the water line is frozen inside the door. you can use a hair dryer to warm up the dispener area both from the front and from the back, inside the freezer, it will take about 30 min to defrost. but, if you get no water from that hose then you need a new water valve. more than likely its frozen in the door. thats common on ge models

New filter but now no water

if you take the kick plate off below the doors, on the left hand side below the freezer door youll see a hose conection. disconect that conection and press the water dispenser lever. if water comes out then the line running into the freezer door is frozen. use a hair dryer to warm up the inside of the door behind the dispener. it takes about 20 to 30 min but once thawed the dispenser will work again
