Water running from under the refrigerator

I've had my refrigerator for about 7 years and now water is running from under it. Everything else runs fine. It still gets cold and the freezer works well. How can I fix this?

My fridge is a normal one. It is a gss25lg side by side. It is hooked to water because it has an ice maker.

Experts say that there may come a time in a fridge's life where you have to open the back panel and clean the condensation coils. When they go in cooling mode, you get frost on the outside of the firdge (on the coils) because of the dirt. When the fridge goes off cooling the frost melts and of course, comes out under the fridge. Still is your fridgea normal one, or one that is connected to a water pipe?

If your refrigerator is of the type which has automatic defrost, the problem is in the pan under the fridge.
The compressor area undr the fridge is full of lint and air is not flowing to the point to allow evaporation from the pan or the pan has rusted and leaks. Remove the pan and check it out and while you are there, clean the fins of the coil under the fridge.

SOURCE: I opened freezer on my

It could need refrigerant...I'd try to possibly get a quote on that.

BUT FIRST,
I'd ensure the coils were cleaned of all dust and dirt...either by vacuum or blow it with compressed air.
I'd also check to make sure the light goes out when the door is closed. Sounds crazy but I had a bad switch once that allowed the bulb to stay on constantly...makes everything warm.

Stopped making ice

I hate to say it.....heres a review "
This is the worst refrigerator I've ever purchased -- and it's all because of the icemaker. It's been repaired 7 times in the last 2 years thanks to having purchased an extended warranty. Predictably every 6 months, the icemaker stops functioning. There's a piece that jams. The repairmen are at a loss. I give up -- this weekend, I'm headed to my appliance shop and buying something different. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk...."

I think there is a genetic problem. Are you under warranty?

How to fix a leak inside a refrigerator

Turn off the refrigerator. Remove the rear panel and floor cover from the freezer. You will see a lot of ice covering everything. Remove/thaw this ice.

In the back of the freezer, under the coils is a drain. When the defroster runs and melts the ice on the coils, the water is supposed to run down the drain to a pan where it is evaporated by a fan under the refrigerator. Often, this drain freezes shut. Then, the water has no place to go but though the vent into the refrigerator.

Melt the ice in this drain with a hair dryer or small quantities of hot water. You will know the drain is clear when the water level suddenly drops. Finish drying everything in the freezer and replace the panels.

Now, you will no longer have water dripping inside your refrigerator.

Sounds like a plugged drain. Your FF defrosts 2-3 times a day and if the drain plugged the next defrost water just runs out the door.

My refrigerator is 9 years old and yesterday it started thawing everything out it is running but not keeping anything cold

If the compressor is running and the fan under the unit I am afraid you need to buy a new fridge. This normally means its low on freon you could have a repairman add some but at 9 years old I would recommend a replacement. But make sure the compressor is running and not just the fan the compressor will hum.

Same problem.... almost eight years July 7, 2009

Dirty condenser (the coil under the unit or behind it). Vacuum it out. Could possibly be the thermostat going bad or the compressor. If it has an ice machine, it may be bad. Most fridges run everything through the ice machine.
Try cleaning it inside and out and make sure the inside coil is not frosted over. That could be a symptom of another problem.

Water continuously running to fridge, overflowing?

Hi, if the only way you could stop the water was to turn it off at the water source, you need to change the water inlet valve. Make sure you check the water fill line for any leaks before you change the valve.
If I canassist you in getting the vavle, please let me know.

Thanks

Amana Refer. runs all the time.

Have you ever cleaned the condenser coil in the back or under the bottom of the refrigerator. Dirty coil will cause this problem, also make sure the little fan motor in the back is working if it stops you can get the same condition. If not these two conditions you may be starting to have a refrigerant problem.
The unit gets low on refrigerant and just dosen't cool properly.
