Question about Brother MFC-425CN Multi-Function Center All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Mfc-425cn ink cartridge won't physically install

The yellow cartridge ran out - have a genuine brother replacement - it won't phsically go in - nor will the cartridge i've removed go back in - cannot see what the obstruction is - the cartidges appear identical to the other cartridges (which come out and reinstall ok) - the cartridge goes in until the top of it is between the Y and the LC47Y shown on the printer - (this type of problem is extremely irritating but is typical of overly propriatary greedy product manufacturers who don't help their customers eg by allowing me to print without a yellow cartridge - this is Brother but Canon products are just as bad - isn't there an open source type considerate manufacturer?) - - thanks for any help

The yellow plastic tab (with holes in) at the bottom of the cartridge wasn't removed before inserting it - this then became ensconced in the compartment - someone fully conversant with the printer and what abuse is acceptable to it used a small traditional (ie not Philips) screwdriver to (eventually) get it out
- longer term solution is that Brother should design their future cartridge systems better (indeed when will some enlightened flat world printer manufacturers agree on open common best practice standard cartridge design?!) - in this particular case (for dummies like me) they should eg attach the yellow tab directly to the bag (so it comes off when removing the cartridge) or affix an instruction "Remove This" (wiith a picture for non english speakers) directly to the tab.

My brother printer not working well

Are you using Genunine Cartridges!!!!

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE
BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

The next step would be to disassemble and clean the Pads/Heads.

You said you replaced the cartridges. Were they Genuine Brothers' Cartridges?

Prints all inks OK but no yellow

Ink may be new, but their nozzles may be blocked; depending on manner of storage. To be sure apply a folded tissue paper to the ink nuzzle and press firmly. If the tissue comes off well blotted with yellow ink along with others, it means you still have a good amount of yellow ink in it and the nozzle is not blocked. If not blotted or scantily blotted, it means ink is really low or nuzzle is blocked. To be very sure of this, place nuzzle in a plate/saucer with a bit water so that the nuzzle is soaked. Leave for about 10 minutes. Then apply the tissue again. If still not well blotted it means yellow ink is really low or empty. In the case of blocked nozzles, the procedure may be repeated over to get results.

Sometimes you can clear that error by holding the cancel or stop button as you power up. Make sure that all inks are installed properly first though.

Are they genuine Brother ink cartridges? Some Brother models won't accept generic or non-OEM ink. Try replacing them with genuine Brother cartridges.

"NO CARTRIDGE" MESSAGE ON BROTHER-425CN

try this:
take all carts out. Unplug machine from power outlet. wait 5 min. leave scanner top open. rplug to power. wait til machine demands carts. reinsert and secure the carts. close cover. answer questions on display. set date and time again in case its not displayed.

If you still receive message use another cart of a diffrent brand. There are many generic carts with bad construction and bad ink out on market.

Best way: refill original brother carts. drill a 2mm hole on top into the brand name (O of brother). refill C/Y/M with a mix of 2ml 85%-glycerol (glycerin alc.) from drugstore and 10ml of DYE ink (shake well before refilling). For BK use 15ml DYE ink mixed with 1.5 ml gylcerol
shke very well before refill.
