Garmin c340 plug in clip on the bottom of Screen fell off
Is it normal for the bottom plug connection to pop off?
I don't believe I broke it as I originally thought. the bottom plug fell off as I was removing the garmin from the windshield. I did not pull it by the plug. sometimes it would come off the window in such a way that I caught it by the wire. Maybe this is how it poped off.
I noticed a short copper fitting and a long copper fitting. I assume this is the positive and negative connection. I though one was broken since it was shorter than the other. I tried to put back, however I have had not luck. what should I do

If the reset described by justaskjoe doesn't help, then check the power cord. There's a fuse inside the power plug, held in by a screw ring which is notorious for coming loose. Make sure the fuse and spring are in place and the ring is screwed on firmly. My daughter's C340 stopped working because that ring came loose and the fuse fell out. Also remove the unit from its mounting cradle and snap it back in to ensure good contact.
I found the solution on another blog. He said to try resetting the reset button . It worked. The button is located under the front screen. Remove screen frame by fingernail under the Garmin name. I'm thrilled. navinscs
I had the same issue. My C340 fell of the dash and the volume control (potentiometer) broke off and was rattling inside the case. I tried to find a replacement (103B stamped on the pot) but have not been able to find one. I tried a mini 10K ohm pot from Radio Shack, but the posts were not properly positioned for the circuit board inside the Garmin.
I took the easy way (for now) and simply strapped the two control points together with a piece of wire giving me maximum volume. Orient the circuit board with the missing volume control to at the bottom right. The control mounts with 5 points, two on the right edge of the board are simply physical mounts. There are three other connection points just to the left in a slight arc. The top and bottom point have holes to place the legs of the pot. The broken off legs may still be in these holes. Solder a piece of wire between the top and bottom points. Be careful since the solder pads (to the left of the holes are very delicate.
I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340. http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/StreetPilotc340_OwnersManual.pdf
