3 Answers

Hey i have a Problem

My Brother got this mp3 player for his birthday. The Mp3 player was a RCA pearl TH1602. My dad is about ready to take it back. My brother opened the package and was synchronizing music to it last night. After he was done synchronizing the mp3 player shut off. He then turned it back on and now all it says is pearl when he turns it on. What must i do to get it working again? I have the same problem too. but along with all of the problems here, it wont show up on my PC. thus i cannot update the firmware. HELP ME!!!

Get the firmware software from Audiovox below. Manually force the new firmware and it will start working again. You may need to reload all of your music like I do on mine. It still screws up every two to three weeks though. When it does, and it will, just force the firmware again.

You can try taking the battery out and then putting it back in...that is how you "reset" the player.

How to Fix Your RCA Pearl TH1602 MP3 Player from Freezing at Startup

423a6d4.jpg
Does your RCA Pearl TH1062 MP3 player freeze on startup at the Pearl logo?

Whenever your player acts up, the best solution is to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery,
  3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
  4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
  6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

This solution will fix your player.
I hope that helps.

RCA pearl th1602-a with new battery will not power on. Old battery will power on, but freeze at pearl logo. Player dosn't power on when plugged into USB of computer

Try a firmware recover. Download the firmware update from the RCA website and install the app. Start the updater and connect the player holding the PLAY button until it gets detected.
This is a similar player with the recovery procedure explained:

RCA pearl th1602-a with new battery will not power on. Old battery will power on, but freeze at pearl logo. Player powers on when plugged into USB of computer. It is already at the latest firmware.

When was the last time you flashed the firmware? Even if it already has the latest firmware, it sounds like it is still corrupted and need to be reflashed. It appears you already know where to find the latest firmware update based on your comments, but just in case you can download it here:

You can d/l the drivers for you Pearl here http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1. Follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

start the program,
remove the battery,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button when the the term "initializing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

You might want to leave the "format data" box unchecked to see it that works. After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again.

RCA TH1602 MP3 Player in locked

You should be able to force the Pearl into recovery mode by removing the battery, then hold down the "Play" button while inserting into USB port, after a few seconds, Windows should detect "USB Human Interface Device" (see Device Manager). Now you should be able run the firmware update. Worked for mine after it froze up one day and would not be detected as a USB device by Windows.

Hey i have a Problem

Make sure the lock by the headphone jack is not engaged first.
If it is not locked, then reset the player by removing and reinserting the battery.
Make sure the player is fully charged before transferring songs - transferring large amounts of songs in one sitting can sometimes drain the player's resources faster than it can recharge.
