Question about HP Compaq 6720s Notebook

1 Answer

Touch pad hi please can someone help me. i have a hp compaq 6720s laptop. One day i turned the laptop on connect to the mains and the ac ad adapter went pop. Since then i have went out an bought a universal ac120w adapter. when i plug this adapter in the touch pad does not work. I have changed the voltage switch on the lead. If the mains are not pluged in then the touch pad works fine but soon as you plug the mains back in the touch pad stops working again. I have had the laptop in for repairs and when it was returned by the courier the note said they had changed the mother board but the touch pad still is not working. the lap top is still in the first year but when i have problems i have to do every thing over the phone with people in India, which i dont get very far. While on the phone with them i had to update drives and press the F buttons when booting the laptop up and this wiped very thing off the laptop that i had saved or down loaded. your advise would be a real help on how to get the touch pad to work again while the mains are plug in. I await your advice. If you need any more info from me just ask Many Thanks kd

I have a hp compaq 6720s, an pver time i have noticed that the ac adapter (the part that plugs in to my laptop) has been getting very hot at times, even so that i have burned my finger once when I had

If the DC jack in the laptop is getting to hot it indicates bad connections on the motherboard where the jack is seated, it will need to be dismantled and inspected, plus the power supply adapter checked for proper plug fitting.

Hp compaq 7620s wont start ( constant blinking blue light )

The adapter output appears correct, the batteries often work in that voltage range. But the problem you have is the motherboard, the HP line has constant trouble with the main board, only option is board replacement.

I have a hp copaq laptop and the touch pad dont work what shall i do.

This is a common problem for most laptops.
With my experience in HP laptops, you can reinstall the touch pad drivers. Visit the HP website and click on the support link, select the model of your laptop under the 'Drivers' section and download the touch pad drivers for your model.

If that does not solve your problem, buy an external USB mouse for your laptop, that is the best alternative solution most people with touch pad problems resort to.

Thank you for using Fixya,

No display

This issue could be with the video card that is integrated on the motherboard.
However, to isolate the issue with software or hardware please follow the steps below :

1. Disconnect the ac adapter and remove the battery from the laptop
2. press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
3. replace the battery and connect the ac adapter
4, turn on the laptop and check

if the issue persists then remove and replace the memory modules and check for the issue.

If the issue still persists then it could be a hardware issue and your laptop needs to be serviced.

Hp compaq 6720 laptop, wont charge battery, bought new battery have same problem. have tried several different chargers and they are all working, but not charging battery

If the notebook does not charge even after replacing it with new battery and checking with several chargers then it is laptop power jack issue.
You may need to replace it. However to confirm the issue is with power jack just remove the battery and try to power on the notebook only with AC adapter. If it does not then it is the power jack which is allowing the ac power to be charged.

If your notebook is in warranty then you can ship it to HP and if it is out of warranty then check the link below, you can purchase the power jack of the laptop from here.

Touch pad is frozen how do i free it

Turn off system. Remove the battery and AC adapter. Press the power button for 30 seconds. Put the battery and the AC adapter on and check for functionality.

If this does not help. Connect a USB mouse and download and install the Touch pad software from the manufacturer's website.

Kindly comment.
