SOURCE: gateway mx6450 audio driver

You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem. It will be labelled Audio driver or Sound driver.
Hope this helps,

Laptop will not power up.

  • If possible, make sure there is power coming from the power adaptor with a voltmeter. If nothing shows, the adaptor needs replacing or repairing.
  • Try removing the battery and running on the power adaptor alone. If this works the battery is dead. You can buy a new battery or just run it on the adaptor.

My gateway mx6450 powers on but on blank screen, the lights indicate its running POST and stops.no sound.

Is it possible to connect the laptop to a pc monitor to see if there is any output, if not I'm afraid it would be a serious hardware issue.

When I turn on my Gateway MX6450 the gateway logo will display then you see the windows logo then the screen goes blank. I need to recover the saved data if I can.

You could remove the hard drive and pickup an adapter online or from a computer retailer that will allow you to connect a 2.5" drive to a standard ide connector found in most "tower" computers. If this is a "SATA" drive it will not need this and can be connected as a 2nd drive with no problems.

I would like to recover my Gateway MX6450 laptop but my cd-rom does not work. is there any way to recover the hard disk without the cd-rom being used?

Two things come to mind. First off being borrowing an external DVD drive from someone, or purchasing one from your local electronics store.

The second one is using the recovery partition if it is still intact. I checked online and that model is supposed to have one, though I could be mistaken. When turning on the computer hold Alt and tap F11, that should start reinstalling the operating system for you.

Hope that helps :)
