Question about Route 66 MINI Handheld GPS Receiver

Hard reset on Route66 mini

Hi, I have a Route66 mini GPS navigator.
It hanged up and I need to make a hard reset (similar to hard reset on PDAs). I can not do it by running a program (Windows CE executable) cause device does not respond and touch screen does not work.
Soft reset (tiny hole in the bottom of deivce) does not help.

My question is: does anybody know how to make a hard reset on route66 mini GPS PNA ?

I have tried a lot of combinations of reset hole and on/of button already.
I wonder if there is some sort of recovery executable, which when copied to SD card (under certain folder and name) will be executed by OS kernel during start up and reset the system.

Thanks!

Try updating your Route66 with the latest edition of the PND software from the R66 support website -http://www.66.com/support/index.php?cid=UK&opt=updates - This will reset the sat nav to how it was when it left the factory but you will loose your favourites and history in the process. See the website for more details.

Turn device on and all i get is a blue screen

If your GPS battery is fully charged, and the GPS device doesn't go past your blue / start-up screen to get to a driving screen, there's a possibility your navigation software may be corrupted; i.e. it hangs.
I'm assuming it stays there, at the start up screen, for a very long time ...
Have you tried to do a "reboot" ... by holding down the ON/OFF button for a (long) while (until the system shuts down and starts up again) and then let it go ? Or have you tried to do a "hard reboot" by depressing the reset (hole) ?

If the navigation software is corrupted, you can (try to) restore it from your backup or download a copy (using HOME) from TomTom ... or get a good copy (from TomTom, a friend, etc.) to replace the navigation software. If you need further instructions/directions, let me know how I can reach you by email

What to do when the navigator hangs

Hello,

once its hangs, you will have to reset the unit or turn it off, leave it for a while, then turn it back on.

Take care.

Tevion gps model 3501 does not go to route66 when switched on,

You will need to restore Route 66 from the supplied cd, however before you do, check to see (using file explorer in active sync mode) if the file gps.txt is in the root directory, if not copy it from the directory "VDisc". this file points to the navigator.exe file located in VDisc/MobileNavigator. If any of these file are missing, you will need to do a restore.

Createfile failed on INI file

Hi. I had the same problem, and i fixed it by creating a APShell.ini file wich was missing in MyFlashDisk\Shell directory.
In APShell file :

Version=1.0.2.43
Language=23
[Navigation]
Path1=\SDMMC\ROUTE66\R66n8.exe
Path2=\SDMMC\N8\Navigate8UI.exe
Path3=\SDMMC\ROUTE66\R66Navigate8.exe
Caption1=Navigate
Caption2=N8
Caption3=Navigate
ClassName1=
ClassName2=Explore
ClassName3=

reset device and it should work.

GPS on hp6515

Hi,
Firstly the GPS on this model is not a standard GPS, it uses AGPS which requires an update to be performed either ever 2 or 10 days, depending on the rom version of the ipaq.

This annoying thing normaly occurs when the update is out of date. On the home screen, in the bottom right hand corner, you will see a circular icon with grid lines and a dot in it. If it is blue the update is good, grey means it is out of date.

There are several ways to update this, the easiest being having your iPaq connected to active sync, then tapping the above icon, tapping download now.

However, if you have recently performed a soft reset, you will need to perform a hard reset to resolve the issue (this will wipe all your data so back up first!!!) Then re-install tomtom and try again.
