Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 1500 Typewriter
Type is not dark.
I have a IBM wheelwriter 1500 by Lexmark. It was typing fine and I changed the ribbon. Now it types like an old carbon ribbon, not dark like it had been typing. Usually a typewriter has a pressure sensor on it for the pressure you want the key to hit the ribbon and I can't find it on the typewriter. Can you give me suggestions on how to make my typewriter print dark? Thanks for any help.
If the ribbon is old, you have to hand feed a few feet of it or just type a few lines of print and it should eventually start to get darker. But, also as DickyO suggested, look for anything that may have fallen inside or under the ribbon area that may be blockint the hammer.

Put in a multi part form, if the carbons print well then try a fresh ribbon,. not one that has been sitting around for a long time. If it is bad check for debris around the print hammer, If its clean either the print solenoid is gummy or the solenoid cap is broken.
