I assume you are talking about the reset under the little rubber plug on the back of the dryer? The most common cause for this is the very fine lint filter on these Asko's getting dirty and restricting airflow. It may LOOK clean, but unfold it, scrub the screen with a soft brush and dish soap, on all 4 surfaces then let it dry before using it. If this doesn't solve the problem, unhook the dryer vent and try running the dryer with the vent hose removed from the wall. If it doesn't trip then, you need to have your house vent cleaned out because it is restricting airflow. if THAT doesn't fix it, try removing the lower panel at the bottom, then remove the fan cover (kinda round and all the way to the left behind the panel) and checking to see if the blower wheel is clogged with lint, or if it has come loose and is not spinning at all. One of these is almost certainly your problem, unless this is a condensing style dryer. If that's the case then you probably just need to pull the condenser out and clean it.
Mine is a condensor model so there is no vent
How often do you remove the condensor and the lint screen and clean them? if they are both scrubbed clean with sopa and water (especially the folding lint screen) and it is still tripping the thermal saftey, then you may have a clogged blower wheel that moves the air through the dryer, or the blower wheel has come loose form the motor and is not spinning well or at all. To check this, you will have to do some dissasembly of the front of the dryer to get to it. It is much more difficult to get to on the condensing style dryers .

Hi, Based on the explaination in your post I guess the unit will operate without anything in the dryer, correct ? If that is the case if you remove the lower panel you will reveal a plastic cover over the blower housing. Located on the housing you will find the moisture sensor usually hidden under some black puddy. Remove the gum type puddy and there you will find the sensor held in place. Remove the sensor and clean it out best as you can. Re-install the moisture sensor and give it a test. If that fails to remedy the problem you may indeed require a new sensor. Let me know and I can provide you with a part number or you can visit "repairclinic.com" and enter your model number and a description of the part you need. Hope this was helpful to you. Let me know or rate my info accordingly. Thanks for visiting "fixya" today and good luck. macmarkus :)

make sure that the heating element is not shorted to the cabinet. Usually when you replace the hi limit you should replace the thermastate along with it. What is the brand of the dryer?

Hi,
When that happens the problem is usually with the timer/control unit...
That is usually very easy to replace and can be done by most people.
You can look for the part online and install it yourself...just be careful to mark all wires so that you get them back in the right spots on the new part...

Usually answered in minutes!
When reset it will run from 1 minute to 5 minutes and then need to be reset again. The back was taken off and all lint removed from the plastic pipes and the vent.
