Stylus retainer?

I recently, ok a couple years ago, replaced the battery in my e335 and now the stylus simply falls out when the device is tipped. Is there some form of retainer that I missed? Maybe that fell out in the battery change? Or is it just loose. I did find a small white plastic thingy shaped something like a letter "L" but see no way for it to fit.
