E6 F2 error code

Whirlpool built in dbl oven RBD305PDB14, will beep several times and the code displays, then the display will go blank. You can still push the buttons and they will sound but you can not use the oven only the minute timer, without a display. Then sometimes the display will come back on and function normally.

When ever you get an error code, try first resetting the code:
1. Disconnect power for about two minutes.
2. Connect back power.
3. If code re-appears, test and eventually replace faulty control board.

Your control Board # 4452890 is not working as it should be. This control board is not available for purchase from Manufacturer.
Either get the Control board repaired or buy a new appliance.

I would suggest www.partsimple.com to get the board repaired. They have the lowest repair cost as compare to other online vendors.

Here is the direct link for the control board: http://www.partsimple.com/4452890-wpl-r-12.html

Sometimes we see an intermittent electrical connection due to oxidation of the contacts on the keypad membrane tail. This can be easily cleaned so you can check this before investing in a new keypad. I posted some pictures and the procedure on our website. Here's the link:

Your cancel key is defective at this point. follow these steps below?

1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

What do I need to do to fix a blank screen on a whirlpool built in oven?

Often the Whirlpool built in ovens have a control board failure which causes the screen to go blank. May be intermittent and may be accompanied by an E6 F2 failure code on the display (before it blanks out). We rebuild a lot of control boards for this problem. For example see:

Related: F2 E6 on Whirlpool RBD305PDS14 double oven - blank display

Equipment is Whirlpool double oven RBD305PDS14 built-in.  After a very stormy summer 2007, I thought a power surge may have zapped the control board.  Problem initially presented on display as error & fault "E6 F2"; simply pressing "Timer Off" would usually clear this error & fault code.

However, some months later, the display would often go completely blank followed by the beep sequence "short-long-short-short-short" (Morse code: dit dah dit dit dit).  No error & fault code would appear.  Pressing any keypad oven control did not work at all in this condition.  When power was cycled at the breaker panel, the usual "PF" with clock display did not appear.

[TURN OVEN POWER OFF AT BREAKER!!!]

After following the excellent information on "how to remove the control panel" posted in this forum, I first tested the "control panel thermal fuse" (refer to the tech sheet that should be behind the control panel once it is removed).  It showed a closed circuit.

I turned my attention to the "flexible" keypad connector cable (error & fault code "E6 F2" is a keypad or keypad connector problem; again, refer to tech sheet).  The control panel has a board mounted female connector with two tabs that may be gently pulled upward to release the flexible cable.

I cleaned the flexible cable contact area (it seats into the board mounted female connector) carefully with a Q tip and some isopropyl alcohol.  I reinserted the flexible cable and gently pressed down on the two tabs (noted above) on the board mounted female connector.  VERY GENTLY tug on the flexible cable to insure it is gripped by the connector.

After all of this monkey business, I re-mounted the control panel display panel on the oven and restored power.  So far, so good.  After applying power, the "PF" with clock display always appears.  I am able to set the clock and press "Start".  Over functions normally.  The clock displays as normal and I no longer observe the problem I described above.

BTW, I noted the incoming 240V has transient suppression (no surge protection, however).

I keep getting the following error message: E6 F2 - what does this mean?

If you have a Whirlpool oven, the F2 E6 error means that the Cancel key line is open. You will need to replace the keypad or the keypad and controller board (if a single assembly) if the keypad doesn't respond to a press of the Cancel Key.

I hope this helps.

Model RBD245PDB14 Error code F2 E6(left side) replaced original key pad with new. One week after install same error code and display blank out. Unpluged and reattached key pad cable but still diplays F2 E6...

If you replace the keypad and continue to have the same error you also have to replace the electronic control.

You can contact fixyourboard. com for a price to repair your control at a reduced price over a new control. It also comes back with a better warranty than anew control.
