Question about Tech Solution TS-4500 Shredder

1 Answer

Shredder Problem The paper sensor switch on my Tech Solutions TS4500 is not working properly. In order to get the paper to shred, I have to press the switch all the way in with a pencil while the paper is being shredded. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.

Yes, replace the paper sensor switch. But how? Is there some contact information for the company or for repair?

Shredder will not shred. Shredder jammed and when I put shredder into reverse it stopped working. If I push in the switch on the underside the machine works in forward and for a few seconds in reverse. Is there any way to keep the switch on? Tech Solution TS-4500 Paper Shredde

As it turns out, tonight I found there is a SEVENTH screw in order to get at everything. The screw on my unit was hidden under the serial number decal. I did not know it was there, so out of frustration an dnot being able to get things apart to unjam them of paper shreds, I muscled it apart, and in the process broke the on/off switch, yada yada.

Trying to take it apart, beware the hidden screw under decal.

the shredder works only in reverse.

    the interlock switch is working.

the problem seems to be the paper sensor

Same problem. The start trigger has to be pushed with something thick to activate it. Up to five sheets won't activate it.

My Tech Solutions TS4500 paper shredder will shred approximately 1/2 page of one or several sheets of paper. But at that point it chokes and will not shred any further. It will back the unshred portion...

My experience has been that when a shredder chokes it usually is trying to tell you the bin is full but a cross-cut shredder is less susceptible. I do have a heavy duty cross-cut shredder that gets rather wonky when suffering from indigestion. Check whether the amount of bin content is affecting yours.

My shredder keeps running and won't stop in on/auto mode

If this model has electronic eyes (optics) to control the auto-start/stop function and you oil the cutters, chances are the optics are contaminated with shredder oil. Take a cotton swab with a little alchohol and clean and dry the optics.

If you removed the top cover, it is a possibility that you disconnected the wires from the PC Board.

Need wiring diagram/info for Tech Solutions TS2550 Paper Shredder

Thank you so very much for going into so much detail about my shredder that wouldn't pull paper thru it. You were SO NICE to do all that & I sincerely wish I could send you a picture of the wiring. HOWEVER, I threw it away months ago when I got no answer to my problem. Guess I'm not patient enough :-) I sincerely appreciate your reply and wish that I could help you out. If I still had it, I'd just mail it to you :-)

It sounds like you may have a gear with a broken tooth you should contact the manufacturer to get more info. Usually when this is the case it will shred good for only a few revolutions and then reversing backs the gear up to a position that allows it to turn the cutters until it once again reaches the area where tooth is missing.

The only solution with respect to safety is to order a new switch from the companuy that manufactures/sells this shredder, and mount it according to the manufacturer/sales company's instructions.
If you want to bypass the safety of the machine, just keep the cables (should be 2, + eventually a ground cable) open, or shorted, depending of the machine's configuration. Remember that this is on your or your collegaues own risk!! A shredder can easily bite your finger off!

My shredder keeps running and won't stop in on/auto mode

Does the shredder have the electronic eye to sense paper? Sometimes dust will collect on the sensor causing it to keep running.
