My solution was to get my son to e-mail me the list of instructions that I couldn't find with my machine. The instructions, although vague, were very helpful!

Cassette gets entangled, and does not play well

Cassette tape machines will occasional require maintenance after a certain period of usage. First open the cassette door and remove the tape and any broken tape remaining inside. Some models allow you to remove the cassette door allowing you to have better access to clean the unit. Next you will need to clean the capstan with alcohol and a Q-tip. The capstan is the metal post which the rubber wheel (pinch roller) pushes against to drive the tape across the tape head. Basically clean all the shiny metal parts including the tape head. Some of the tape residue may be difficult to clean, I use Tricloroetilene which has been regulated by the government, but you may try a product called Goof Off to clean the difficult parts, but it could eat the plastic and rubber parts so be careful. Next use a rubber cleaner on the pinch roller so you do not dry the rubber out, or it will become useless. The other problem is the cassette may be driven by a motor and belts. The belts may need to be replaced and the pulleys cleaned. For this you will need to disassemble the unit to access the belts but the cleaning of the pinch roller and capstan may fix your problem, if not you need to open it up to replace the main belt.

Recording

You can only record from the radio or CD player. There's no microphone input on this model. Just insert a tape and press the REC button. If you're recording from the CD, it begins playing when you press the REC button. If you need a copy of the manual you can download it here.

Insert a tape.

Select the program source you want to listen/record (CD).

Insert a cd, press stop.

Press record on the tape player.

Press play on the CD player.

The volume control or any audio emphasis buttons will not affect the record level.

Tape deck is stuck

push the eject button at the same time get a nail file and insert it in the tape slot
on the right hand side of the deck
it may take three hands one to push eject one to push the eject mechanism inside the radio behind the tape
and one to help remove the tape
if that doesnt work....dont try forcing anything as the stereo WILL break..... take the stereo out of the car, so it is not connected to the electrics, then either, gently take it apart with a screwdriver

I would suspect the belts, look for any small motors and missing belts. You may be able to manualy turn a wheel or gear till it ejects.
if your not comfortable doing this urself with the above said porcedures... its better to take it to the dealer...

How do I tape to tape

you mean to record?first, you must connect the other unit (if you are using two cassette)by using rca plug or earphone plugs.insert the plugs to audio in or aux(this is the unit that will record).if the other unit doesn't have the output audio, use the earphone out instead.time to record.the recorder must be set to tape/aux,(if you are using a unit with radio setting).then, push the play and record button at the same time.don't forget to put in the blank tape ok.then push play to the unit that you want to be recorded.the square symbol is for stop.the arrows pointing left ,rewind.pointing right, forward.the big arrow pointing right is the play and the button next to it is the record button.

Play mode

Tape the play button down (better if you have a repeat button) I have done this and used a marble under the tape to simulate a thumb-like pressure imitation
