Open Question

MC9090G (Windows CE 5.0) and WPA-PSK

We are simply trying to configure the handheld to connect to our Cisco Aeronet APs using WPA-PSK and are not having any success.

How did you get it to work?

Thanks in advance,

I need to find the WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK passphrase for my cisco router

If you cannot remember your your pass phrase your only option is to reset the router back to factory setting sand reconfigure it.

On the back next to the WAN port is the reset button. Power off the router, press and hold the button, power on the router and continue to hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds. Allow th router to reboot and you should be able to access the router to configure using with no loging ID and a password of admin
Good luck

Hi i have installed my router over a year ago now but am wondering how i set up security as others in my area can pick up my network easily without any passwords and it is slowing my computer down thanks.

In general, you can follow the basic steps below.

I would recomend using WPA2 or WPA secutity over WEP. (as this is a stronger type of wireless security)

- Open a web browser on the computer.
- In the address bar of the web browser, type (default router ip address, you may have changed this)
- Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit. (if you have already set up a password to login to the router then enter it here)
- Click on Security in the left-hand column under the Wireless heading.
- Use the drop-down menu and select "WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK)".
- Select either WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, or WPA-PSK+WPA-PSK2 as your Authentication; doing this will set the Encryption Technique automatically.
- Enter a word or group of characters in the password (PSK) box. The Pre-Shared Key must be 8 to 63 characters in length. Note: The PSK (Pre-Shared Key) is case-sensitive ("A" is different than "a").
*NOTE* Unchecking the Obscure PSK box will allow you to see the security key that has been typed.
= Click the "Apply Changes" button to save the settings.

Any/all wireless computers that connect to this network will be required to have this Pre-Shared Key (password).

If you need assistance with how to re-configure your computers, then please provide the version of windows that you are using.

Basic steps are:

-Disable the current Wireless Connection
-Enable the Wireless Connection
-Search for available wireless networks (look for your SSID wireless network name)
-you will be prompted to enter in your PSK and then save your settings

So i recently purchased a belkin router. i set it up and my laptop can work but my ipod touch can't work. like it will connect to my server successfully but always says when i go on safari or youtube...

Use WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK) as your security mode, then WPA-PSK for the Authentication and TKIP for Encryption Technique. You should be able to use your Ipod or any handheld devices to your router.

Temporarily disable all security on the router AND your laptop wireless card and try again to test connectivity.

The exact error message should be:
"Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you
on to the network [SSID]"

This is caused by setting the encryption to WPA-RADIUS instead of WPA-PSK on the client radio. Both the router and the client are
trying to find a RADIUS server with which to authenticate your system.
Switch the encryption to WPA-PSK (pre-shared key) on both ends and it should30924e8.jpg work.

Also check to make sure that IEEE 802.1x authentication on the wireless network properties Authentication tab is disabled.
