Rudy, are you connecting to the TV with HDMI, or RCA cords? HDMI carries both picture and sound thru 1 cord, whereas RCA splits it to YELLOW RED and WHITE. The HDMI connection is automatically detected when connected to your TV. It will say"HDMI is detected, do you want to use these settings?" RCA is not automatic, and is prone for the video(YELLOW) cord to develope a bad connection. I wouls duggest first replacing the cord. They are inexpencive, and the fastest way to check your issue. I am going to include a link to a youtube video that will guide you through the steps on how to reset your video settings on your system. How To Reset PS3 Video Settings PS3
I would suggest this (you haven't said what kind of tv you have). I have a 37 in vizio, and a 25 vizio flatscreen HD tv. I had my PS3 hooked up using HDMI first time I tried it I got the little pixels you were talking about...so do this. Sounds stupid but it helped me. The HDMI cable where it plugs into the tv plug and unplug a couple times (three times worked for me. Do the same at the PS3 side of the cable. You want to do this with both of the machines off. Also make sure you have the PS3 configured appropriately for your TV settings...There is a way you can auto setup the screen and sound by shutting the PS3 off and holding your finger on the power button for like 5-10 seconds (it will beep twice) then let your finger off the power button.
When my HDMI cable went bad it would go from having a picture and sound to having no sound and a picture, to no sound and no picture. I thought I had a bad HDMI slot...but it was just a bad HDMI cable
if it's happening with your ps2 and your ps3 on teh same tv, try it on a different tv. if you're getting sound but no picture, tehn it's something with your cables or your tv. restting the display setting should get your picture back up. make sure the system is in standby and then hold down teh power button. it will turn green and beep, then flash green and beep again. it should brng up a picture. if not, check your component cables, especailly if it works with the original cables.
With your PS3 on standby (red light) hold the on/off button down until it goes green and then back to red. This restores your PS3 to "factory settings", i.e. it is waiting for you to tell it how you want it to connect to your TV. Now disconnect any HDMI cables you may be trying to use and connect your PS3 to your TV via a scart connection. Now switch your PS3 on and turn to your AV channel and you should have both sound and pictures.
When you connecting sony via hdmi sony and tv must be shut down.First turn on sony then tv.Connect also and av cable or scart then go to sony settings and change out signal via hdmi or scart or av cabel and confirm. That should work
