Question about Haier Standard (CRT) Televisions
This happened with the football game last sunday and at this moment on channel 25: general hospital. Not on all other channels and not during commercials!!
Most often, these "black box" problems are caused by Closed Captioning being on. There are different types (cc1, cc2, Text, etc.), and different ones interpret different types of closed captioning that are broadcast from the station. It is usually the TEXT ones that cause this problem, because the TV can't interpret the closed captioning symbols it is getting.
On your original TV remote, see if there is a button marker "close caption" or CC. Try pressing this button several times until "closed caption off" or OFF appears on the screen. If there is no button on the remote, then you have to get into the menu of the TV to find the closed caption and turn it off.
I hope this helps you...
