im hoping a new harness will fix the problem. i have one on order. the steroe came with a harness but not all the wires came with the harness. which i thought was very weird. All wires were there other than the speaker wires. white grey purple and green were all missing. first time for that one. the new harness better have the wires. my manuel shows how to hook up wires a different way but only for two other models of the same deck not my model. so it shows no connections for wires on my x915 stereo.

the harness has normal colors red yellow black amp turn on with pink and white. illumination wires and thats it. one side of the clip is full with wires while the other side where the speaker wires connect. they are missing. for all speakers they are missing.

the harness looks like all other 16 pin kenwood harnesses but without speaker wires connected to the harness. i tried another harness hooked up front speakers and still no sound. is the speaker configuration different on this unit. or does this unit not have an internal amp to give speakers sound. i heard this is a competiotion unit very good so im not sure.

Hi there JT,

An Amp makes existing sound louder. If you aren't getting sound now, there's a problem.

From your description, it sounds like your stereo is going through all the motions, it looks and acts like it is functioning. Just no sound.

If that is wrong, let me know.

When you turn it on, do you hear anything from the speakers? White noise, a click, anything, any indication that they are hooked to any kind of power supply?

Let's do the basics (easiest) first:

  • Mute is off
  • Balance and Fader centered
  • Volume up
  • CD in and playing
Still nothing? OK.
  • I need you to access the back of the stereo. (Sorry)
  • Yellow and red are power. Black is ground. The unit works so these are ok. Blue is to turn on a remote device like an amp. There may be an orange, ignore.
  • There are four sets of wire for the speakers. Colors are White, Gray, Purple and Green. One of each set is solid colored, the other has a stripe.
  • White and gray are front
  • Purple and green are back. Same page?
  • These are what your speakers should be hooked to. One set for each speaker. Are they?
  • Eyeball the connects, look for shorts, disconnects, etc.
  • Get a speaker and test it right there behind the stereo on one set after another. Anything? If so, you have a problem in the wiring not the stereo
That's enough for now. I'd hate to write a book and have you solve the thing in chapter one. Get back to me with the answers and results. Those results will decide the next course of action (Unless of course it's fixed by then, in which case let me know with a nice FixYa rating).

So what wires are there? How many, color, pin config, Anything.
    What are they hooked to

If you give me this info, I'll get you going. (Cocky, aren't I)
I want the FixYa, but I expect to earn it. So, give me a shot.

    Mike

This unit does not have an internal amplifier, which equals no sound. get yourself an amp and you'll get your sound.

I have a kenwood eXcelon KDC-X759 and after i hooked it up it just kept flashing code off, and it will take a cd but no sound and the radio works fine

does the cd seem to be working other than no sound? if so, are you running the audio through an amplifier? if you are using an amplifier, you may be using the antenna remote wire (blue) instead of the amp remote wire (blue/white stripe) to turn the amp on. when using the antenna remote wire it turns off when going to cd mode.

The remote from the amp should be connected to the remote (blue wire) or power antena wire from the radio.

Cd player plays, but no sound comes out of speakers.

first off the amp gets power straight from the battery. the amp is used to power the subs. the subs are suppose to be connected to the amp only( never the speakers).

for the second part you mostlikely killed the wires. you should get some one to look at it and check the wires. thee speakers might need to be re-wired

Kenwood kdc-x592 No sound on CD and..

your amp turn on is hooked to the power antenna wire. Swap the blue wires and youll be good to go. Since the power antenna is not needed, when the radio goes off tuner, the 12V signal is turned off. and your amplifier will also then lose its remote turn on.
Reverse the 2 blue wires.

Kenwood head unit CD and AUX sound not working

I fixed the sound problem with tech support from Kenwood. I had the blue wire from the Kenwood which is the antennae turn on wired to the amp turn on for the vehicle (2001 Blazer with Bose factory stereo). This is how I was told to wire it from the installation tech where I purchased the wiring harness. The tuning played fine because the Bose amp turned on when I played the tuner but when I played the cd or aux the amp turned off, thus no sound. The kenwood tech toldd me to wire the blue/white wire to the amp turn on for the vehicle so the amp would be on when ever power to the Kenwood was on. I rewired this way and everything works great now.

My Cd and iPod doesn't have sound

Alright I fixed it. My stock Jeep stereo had a speaker amp that was wired in with the power ANT, the kenwood would turn the power ANT off when using other medias. So I had to hook up the BLUE power ANT wire up to the RED IGN wire so that when the car was on both the ANT and AMP would be on when the car was on. There are other ways of hooking this up I could have hooked the ANT wire up to the AMP wire coming out of the Kenwood so that the AMP and ANT would've only been on when the radio was on, but I'm happy with the way this turned out.
