Hello bprice7777 - When was the last time you cleaned the condensers? You may do so by removing the toe grille and use extended vacuum attachment and condenser cleaning brush to remove dust buildup from condenser coils usually located on the left side underneath. If you hear the compressor running and if it is providing warm air then that means it is operating correctly and the sealed system is removing heat from the cabinet. Fan motor/evaporator may be the primary issue. However, if you do not hear the compressor and the unit is blowing room temperature then the unit may possibly have a sealed system leak, faulty compressor or overload relay. Also try checking and see if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing it. If any suggestion proves to be ineffective contact a professional to move forward accurately.

I have a Kenmore Elite 51374. The refrigerator is not getting cold enough but freezer is too cold. Technician said that it was an electrical problem to call a electrician that I needed a new outlet. I...

That is the dumbest answer I've ever heard from a technician.

The cold control on most boxes controls the freezer temperature. You want the freezer temp to be around zero degrees.

Somewhere (usually in the refrigerator section) there's another control that actually sets a damper, letting some cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator. Higher numbers equal lower temperature. Find that second control knob and turn it up by 1 or 2 numbers, let an hour or so pass and check your refrigerator temp. You want about 40 degrees in the fridge.

The fridge freezer does not get cold. The outside of it gets cold but not the inside. There is still a humming noise.

if the outside gets cold and inside is not getting cold this is sign of low refrigerant

Tries to run but not getting cold. can hear things start underneath try to do something and copper tubes get cold, but doesn't get cold.

Well, unfortunately you arent very specific in your question. Remember, your looking for help online, and if you ask why your freezer wont get cold, which as you might guess is the most common problem with a refrigerator or freezer, you need to give me any and all symptoms you have. be specific. is it cold at all, or a little cold, what noises do or dont you hear, how long has it been this way, did you notice this after something occurred, i.e., you cleaned it, or moved it.

Side byrefrigerator runs but not cold. Freezer is

take everything out of it, and let it thaw for 24 hours, using towels and whatever to clean up the water......then plug it back in, if it still does it, like 2 days later, it's broke, if it doesn't it was just the coil in the back that froze up. Happened to me.

Need a freezer for garage in the Dakotas

Refrigeration units don't care for the most part how cold it gets with exceptions. The oil is not a concern, neither is manual or auto defrost. Refrigeration units that are required to operate in cold temperatures, say below 30 degrees F. have crankcase heaters on them to heat the oil which keeps freon moving out of the oil and the bottom of the compressor. Otherwise when the compressor starts the cold freon will we sucked out of the bottom of the compress with a large quantity of oil which can destroy the compressor. Another item used for cold weather application is a fan control sensor which keeps the condensing temperature up or the unit will again remove the oil from the crankcase. It may work fine for a quite a while, but it will fail in continuously cold temperatures.

Operation of freezer

no! tap cold control to see if it starts. if the compressor is running and still not cold you either have a system leak or a bad comp.
