I presume you are trying to copy something on your MP780.

In the "Copy" mode, press the "Image" button beside the LCD screen, then use arrow keys to change to another quality, then press"OK" button and the machine should be set to go.

Hi
I hope that this will help you

[CE40] Image quality control test pattern abnormality

(1) Use "Image quality control abnormal detection counter Y to K display/0 clearing (08-573 to 576)"to check the abnormal occurring condition for each color.

(2) Check "Output value display of image quality sensor / Low-density pattern (05-391-0 to 3)" to

check if the low-density pattern abnormality occurs for each color. The values under 320 for Y, M

and C, and under 220 for K are defined as low-density pattern abnormality.

(3) Check "Output value display of image quality sensor / High-density pattern (05-390-0 to 3)" to

check if the high-density pattern abnormality occurs for each color and identify the color which

pattern is abnormal. If the value is 630 or above, it is defined as high-density pattern abnormality.

(4) Set the values of "Image quality closed-loop control / Contrast voltage (08-556)" and "Image

quality closed-loop control / Laser power (08-557)" to "0" (Invalid).

(5) Perform "Enforced performing of image quality open-loop control (05-394)".

(6) Output the image quality control test pattern (04-270) more than one time and check the patch of the color identified in step (3) to see if the image is abnormal.

(7) Replace the image quality sensor.

(8) Set the values of "Image quality closed-loop control / Contrast voltage (08-556)" and "Image

quality closed-loop control / Laser power (08-557)" to "1" (Valid).

(9) Perform "Enforced performing of image quality open-loop control (05-394)" and make sure it is

completed normally. (Error [CE40] does not appear.)

(10) Clear all "Image quality control abnormal detection counter Y to K display/0 clearing (08-573 to 576).

Need to know how to use the scanner on a lexmark 6500

You can change the resolution (dpi) of an image or of the copies you're making from the 6570. Here's instructions on how to do both:

Change the resolution of copies:
1. From the operator panel of the printer, press Copy Mode.
2. Press the menu button.
3. Press the arrow buttons until the Quality option appears.
4. Press the check to select Quality.
5. Press the arrows until the quality you want appears (you can't choose a specific dpi here, but you can adjust the quality).
6. Press the check to select it.
7. Press Start Color or Start Black.

Change the Resolution of an image:
1. Open Productivity Studio.
2. Click File > Open and select the image you want to edit.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Click Image Resolution/Size.
5. Select Photo Size to select from a list of defined photo sizes, or click Custom Size to enter a different size.
6. If you select Custom Size, type the width and height you want to use for the custom size.

Scanning problems

The following came from HP's site. I have also included a direct link for troubleshooting to your model if the following does not help at the very end of this post.
Hope this helps!! :)
Scanned image quality is poor
  • A dirty scanner glass (fingerprints or smudges) will slow down performance and will affect scan quality because the unit is scanning the smudges on the glass. Turn off the unit and clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
  • Reinitialize the scanner by shutting down the HP all-in-one and then unplugging the power cord. Make sure that all originals are removed and that the scanner glass is clean. When the power is reconnected and the HP all-in-one is turned on, the scanner will recalibrate.
  • The video driver and video settings on the computer may slightly change the image appearance. The HP all-in-one scans in 24-bit color. Setting the video display settings to less than 24 bit or 24 million colors will result in a loss of color information when displayed on the computer monitor. The video driver itself may change the appearance of colors when viewed on the monitor.
  • Changing the image size will affect how the scan appears. Resizing the scan may make the image fuzzy. Resize the image in the destination or make the original smaller.
  • When scanning an image, save it to a different file format. For instance, save it as a JPEG or TIFF file. When saving a scan as a JPEG, there is often an adjustable quality or compression setting. If the scan is to be used in Windows (such as in a screen saver or for wallpaper), the scan must be saved as a Windows bitmap (.BMP).
  • The destination can represent colors differently than they appear in the original. If the destination is the image editor, modify the colors in the image editor.
  • Make a copy with the same quality settings. If the copy looks better than the scan, the imaging software may be affecting the scan quality. For example, Adobe PhotoDeluxe supports printing at 300 x 300 dpi only, even though the all-in-one product is capable of 600 x 600 dpi. Some versions of Adobe Acrobat change images to either 75 or 150 dpi, depending on the version.
  • Some image editors also convert the file into their own format or use a different default format resulting in loss of quality during the conversion process.

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.
