I would use some scraps of fabric and transfers to do some trial and error experimenting.

Keep in mind that the iron will not produce steam until the internal temperature is 212 degrees farenheit.

good luck with this.

My Hamilton Beach duration iron produces steam but the burst steam feature doesn’t work

put a solution of 10% vinegar in it and try to flush the system out.... probably that circuit, which pushes a shot of water into the heating coils, is plugged.... if REALLY plugged, you may be looking for a new iron since passage of water with the vinegar is necessary to dissolve the clog to a great degree...

Heat element light comes on (so there is power) but the iron will not hear up

The Delonghi Pro300 has two thermostats that contact the boiler. One is a low temperature thermostat that allows the boiler to heat up to 145 degrees (F). The other turns off the boiler when the temperature reaches 180 degrees. It sounds like your low temperature thermostat has failed. The part can be ordered on line. You need to have good basic mechanical skills and the proper sized star screwdriver to replace it.

How do you clean the soleplate? I have some residue/buildup that does not wipe off. I already did the self-clean to remove deposits but there is still "stuff" on the soleplate

You can use Rowenta Sole plate Cleaner. If you cannot find it locally, check online at retail sites like Amazon.
If you want to try a home made cleaner, Avoid abrasive cleaning powders or scouring pads.

Begin with a cold iron that is unplugged from the electrical outlet. Use a mild dish washing soap or laundry detergent to create a sudsy solution. Use a nylon mesh pad, sponge, or a clean cloth dipped in the solution to completely wipe off the soleplate of the iron. Wipe the soleplate clean with a damp cloth or rag.

If the soleplate is the victim of a starchy build up or corrosion of some form, you will need to use something a little stronger. Use a clean cloth dipped in white vinegar to remove the build up. Wipe the soleplate clean with a cloth dampened in clean water.

If this does not work, then you will need to heat a solution of white vinegar and salt until the salt dissolves. Using a clean cloth sipped in the heated solution, wipe the iron's soleplate clean. Continue wiping until you have removed all of the build up or corrosion. Remember to wipe the iron completely clean with a cloth dampened in clean water.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Damaged mains cable

it is betterr to get a sealed power plug with the nylon insulation for the iron with a 15 amps rating wire and plug.
open the unit and disconnect the wire of the damaged plug, remove and replace with the new one taking care to connect each of the wires to the correct position. The lead , neutral and the ground must be double checked before you switch on.

I have stuff on the bottom of my iron that won't come off with iron cleaner. It seems like the iron plate should be sanded and buffed to get it off. I do not know what it is. I have not used my iron for...

It is man made polyester or nylon blends in fabrics you ironed that melted on the hot surface. DO NOT use sand paper or anything more abrasive than Bon Ami or other MILD cleanser...matter of fact I use a trusty orange stick or throw away wooden chopstick to gently buff the deposits off. You could try more agressive solvents and such, but I choose not too...just patience and plenty of rubbing with the wood.

Rowenta does provide a sole plate cleaner, but I have not used it. Go to the Rowenta USA website or use Google to find it if you choose to.
California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/
