Question about Sony Handycam DCR-DVD92 DVD Camcorder

Very light display on screen

The screen is so light that you can't use it to record by. I have made the brightness adjustments. I seems like the screen is not making a good conection when it is open or somethig is turned down too low. I use it mostly in the late afternoon while hunting, but in full daylight you still can't see the screen.

It was the only one I got! So I have no choice but to sent it back to Sony. Which is what I thought I should do in the first place.

That is a defective screen backlight.

The camera must be taken apart to fix this, you need to send camera in for repair.

Call the number listed on the owner manual to get support.

If you call sony , ask them if there is availaibility for a warranty extension, this is cheaper than an average repair , and will cover the camera for an extra year.

Hi...I have a Sony Hi8 Handycam recorder. It's about 10 years old so it's performed well. We are having trouble with recording. It will only record correctly in outdoor bright light. When I record...

It sounds to me like the aperture is stuck. The aperture is what adjusts to let in more or less light. If it is stuck closed down, it will look fine outside but won't let in enough light inside. Sadly, there is probably nothing you can do about it. You could take it to a camera repair shop, but being 10 years old, you might opt for a new camera instead. I feel your pain!

If you still have access to the menu options on your LCD then the
problem is probably your Lens iris. Somtimes fixed with a light tap on the side of your camcorder. Gentle tap please. May require lens replacement.

Does not record in doors or in low light. very dark display

It sounds like you may have the the camera in manual mode or that the Iris may be turned down. I am not sure if you model has an Iris control so make sure it is not in manual mode.

Black screen picks up only bright lights

if it is only recording bright light sources then it must be working fine outdoors in broad day light. if so, it means the auto iris of your camera has stucked to minimum opening. was the camera lying idle for long time. try pointing the camera towards low light and bright light with quick moves.some times by doing so it gives a little jerk to the mechanism and it starts working, or lightly patting the camera on the lense side may solve the problem. otherwise let the repaires earn some money.

Strange silhouetting and a vertical strip

If A vertical strip appears on the screen when recording a dark background or the subject is blooming or silhouetting, you need to adjust the BLC. * The contrast between the subject and the background is too great for the camcorder to operate normally. * Make the background brighter to reduce the contrast or use the BLC function while you are recording in a brighter environment. BLC (Back light Compensation) * BLC works in CAMERA/M.REC mode.B * Back lighting exists when the subject is darker than the background: 1. The subject is in front of a window. 2. The person to be recorded is wearing white or shiny clothes and is placed against a bright background; the person?s face is too dark to distinguish his/her features. 3. The subject is outdoors and the background is overcast. 4. The light sources are too bright. 5. The subject is against a snowy background. 1. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 2. Press the BLC button. Normal - BLC - Normal BLC enhances the subject. Notes: * When NITE PIX to set to ON, the BLC function does not work. * The BLC function will not operate in EASY mode.
