I have just bought idea pad y530,3gb ram. I am unable to make LAN connection (both wired and wireless), so i am unable to use internet service. But i am successfully using the internet service for other two laptops that i already have. When i try to connect LAN manually, it gives me a list of available LANs. I selected the one that is mine, entered a router code(for first time only), and the message on the system tray show "successfully connected". But again it shows 'X' mark or system tray network icon. When i try it again and again, it causes disconnection of the other computers from the network. But aftersome time other two starts working again.
Re: I have just bought idea pad y530,3gb ram. I am unable...
Make sure the LAN port is enabled in the idea pad and use a known good cord and port. Go unplug a working station and see if the new unit attaches. If not the problem is in the idea pad. If it does then go back and look at the Lan connect.

try connecting to another location like the public library. it could be that your router security setting may be set too high.

Wireless networks - 29
Installation speed and simplicity Installing a wireless LAN system can be fast and easy and eliminates the need to pull cables through walls and ceilings. Components of a wireless LAN To set up your Wireless network at home you need to have the following:
Access point (router)
Access points (routers) are two-way transceivers that broadcast data into the surrounding environment. Access points act as a mediator between wired and wireless network. Most routers have a built-in DSL modem that will allow you access to a high speed DSL internet connection. The ISP (Internet Service Provider) you have chosen normally supplies a modem/router with the subscription to their services. Read carefully the documentation supplied
with your Access point/router for detailed setup instructions
carry out the resetting of the dlink router then use lan cable to gain access to dlink router, set up the internet conenction (i.e. your internet provider modem plugged into the dlink router also)
if it has a built in wizard then just follow the on screen instructions
you will need to define SSID (wireless network name) and passkey (password for the wireless connection)
and the your done. disconnect the laptop from wired connection and connect via wireless
You will need a wireless router with a built in switch. Most of them these days will have a built in switch. Here is a picture detailing what I am talking about.
You're internet connection goes into the ADSL port. Now, it will be broadcast WIRELESSLY through the antenna to your laptop. With this example, you could connect 4 more WIRED computers through the LAN ports. The built in switch is the division of the connection into the separate LAN ports.
I trust that this will help you greatly and look forward to your response!
lan wires are the same. lan wires used to connect your computer to your modem can also be used to connect your Wa1003A adsl router and TEW 432 brp.
you just got some things mixed up.
1. you should set your Wa1003A adsl router to bridge mode. At this point, it will just be "pass through" device and will not be the one who will ask for IP adds from your ISP.
2. configure your TEW 432 brp with your pppoe username and password. Your TEW 432 brp will now ask the network for the IP address to that it can connect to your ISP.
-- ckeck if you see 'wireless connection' in the network connections, in order to find it, click start --> control panel --> network connections and you must see wireless connection in case of win xp.. start --> control panel --> network and internet --> network and sharing center --> manage network connections and you must wireless network connection under LAN or hi speed connection... in case of win vista
--if you have that ikon that means you have your drivers installed on the computer properly --right click wireless network connection and click "view available connections" in case of xp and "connect/disconnect" in case of vista
you must find the network and get connected..
letme know if you have problems connecting..
If not done allready, setup the lan IP address and default gateway in win98 Click MyComputer-ControlPanel-Network-Double Click TCP/IP Adapter for your 3com device-insert LAN info for IP Adress-subnet mask, Gateway and your Internet service providors DNS Addresses info Tab's (3x different Tabs "IP Adress" "Gateway" "DNS Configuration")
IP Adress will be at least one number higher than your gateway address and not allready being used by other PC's on your network and gateway address will same as your router interface address subnet mask will be the same for all PC's on your network.
For 3com and Netgear routers LAN setup is usually
Gateway = 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
IP Adress = 192.168.1.10(choose alternate number than 10 if allready used by another PC on your network, try to use round numbers, must be a number higher than 1)
Once all info is entered click OK (this may trigger a database info update message and task)now your LAN is setup and ready to talk to your network
Restart PC and try browsing again. May possibly require reinstallation of the TCP/IP client (you double clicked this to setup your LAN in Win98) or reinstallation of the IIS(Internet Information Services)component found in, Add/Remove Programs-Add/Remove windows components and then try LAN setup again if this does not work first time round
what operating system ..
what are your network settings ...
