Question about Zonet (ZPS1000) Print Server

How to contact sys-admin(wiz)

I was in the process of getting some resolution with my Zonet ZPS1000 print server and was working with sys-admin (wiz) in a live-chat when our session suddenly ended. When I re-linked with the "live-chat" I was told by Dipu007 that I needed to contact sys-admin (wiz) and that he or she would get back in touch with me to resolve the problem. Is this how I do that?
Thanks in advance

Bubbarbear64, thank you for getting back to me. First, I paid for a live chat session this morning to resolve the problem and the session (with sys-admin) was cut off before we could get it resolved. First, is there any way I can get back on-line with you in a live chat since I never got the situation resolved?

Back to the print server. You actually attempted to help me last week. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router and for the life of me I cannot get it and my Zonet ZPS1000 print serve to communicate with each other. I followed the advice you offered last week about making sure that the printer works by connecting directly to one of the three computer I have hard-wired to the system. But after I do that and then connect the Brother HL-1440 printer to the router by way of an ethernet cable via Zonet Print server and run the Zonet print server software, the computer cannot find the print server or printer. I'm sur the solution is a simple one but I am totally out of my element here. As a side note, in my live chat session, I was directed to hook the printer directly into one computer. I thought we were somehow working toward a solution but all we ended up doing was running the printer off my computer for the network. While that did create a "network" printer, it was not the solution I was looking for since it only works if my computer is up and running. That's why I'm still looking for help with the Zonet ZPS1000 print server.

I believe the IP address for the Linksys router is .
I am not sure what the IP address for the print server is but I read somewhere that it is by default . I do not know how to access it or change it.

Actually, you suggested this line of action before (plugging the print server into the back of the computer using the ethernet cable) and I did it before and I did it again this time and still no joy. After I plug it in and insert the Installation CD, the CD begins a search mode, looking for a printer (as it does when the print server is plugged into the router). The little flashlight on the screen waves back and forth but nothing is ever found, no matte how many times I refresh. I asked Linksys tech suppoort if they could help since I've never heard from Zonet despite repeated attempts. They tried but could not.
I know that if I can ever get the computer to recognize the print server that I could probably get it configured from there. I've checked my cables and they all appear to be good. Everything was working well until I upgrade my router so the system was indeed good. I'm just stuck with this print server. I'm almost ready to just bring in another, older computer and let it become my print server.

I want to thank Bubbabear 64 for his persistence in trying to help resolve the problem. His efforts at least helped steer me in the direction I needed to go to get resolution to the problem. I also discovered that this FREE chat was much more attuned to getting the problem solved than paying 20 bucks for "live chat" with another person at the same website in who, despite about two hours of effort, was steering me in a completely different direction and never even approached the primary issue of the "cranky print server" which was the issue. Then when we were "disconnected", I couldn't get re-connected with him for 48 hours despite repeated attempts on my part. I basically felt I threw away 20 bucks. But hey, I'm just being honest since I was asked to rate the service.

Plug the print server in the back of your computer using the ethernet port. Insert the setup cd into the same computer. Assign an IP address for you print server using xxx=available address number on your network. If it requires the gateway address use if that is the correct address of your Linksys router.

You can verify the correct router address from your computer. Make sure your computer is connected to the network (not the print server) and go into the control panel. Select Network Connections. Move the mouse to you network card. Press the right mouse button and select status. The gateway address is your router address.

It probably isn't seeing the gateway but if you are sure that is the IP address of the router, you can go into Internet Explorer and type in Type in the user id and password then go into the admin portion and manually change the ip address to match your network.

Don't use the CD to reinstall it. I never use them because they never work properly (especially if they are wireless). If the print server is connected to the printer, press the reset button and see if a configuaration page prints out. Tell me the IP address listed on it.

Installation CD for the print server

If you are having trouble going through the setup process on the installation cd do the following:

  1. Disable any encryption settings on your wireless router.
  2. Disable MAC filtering.
If these features are enabled during the installation setup process, the wireless features will not work unless you go into the admin settings of the print server by typing the IP address into internet explorer. Type in the correct encryption settings.

Linksys has a provision in the setup software to key in the correct encryption however the software doesn't put the information in properly. This will cause the wireless not to work and allow the print server to work only when it is wired to the network.

Encryption settings have to be entered through the administration settings of the router by typing in the IP address of the print server using internet explorer.

How do I find the new IP address for the Zonet ZSP3611 Printer Server so I can set up my printer to work

An easy way would be to download and install nmap. For the IP address to scan, if your computer ip is say, then enter and select the quick scan. Whichever device comes back with an open port of 9100 is most likely the print server.

The gateway would be the address that your router uses.

You would plug the print server into the back of the computer using the ethernet line.
