Not advisable if it is a cold fill washer only, as you will then be rinsing in hot water, and this could cause shrinkage of clothing and other adverse effects..
O/k if it is hot and cold washer.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Washer fills with hot water on cold wash or rinse. Turned off the hot water supply during cold cycle and machine stopped filling. Checked that the hoses were connected to right inlet valve and they are.

typically hot is on the left and cold is on the right at the house faucets but in some cases they are reversed so if filling with a cold setting and the right side supply is hot the plumber reversed the lines when the house was built which while its semi rare has been seen numberous times

Which is hot & cold inlet connection

If you want to connect up a washing machine that uses hot and cold water but you only have a cold water supply (such as in a basement or garage) you can use a Y Piece connector to connect the hot and cold fill hoses to a single cold water supply (external link to 4Washerhelp spares).
The washing machine will then work OK. Simply screw the Y-Piece onto the tap, and then screw the hot and cold fill hoses to the Y-piece and connect the other end of the fill hoses to the washing machine. (You may also be able to buy this part from a DIY store like B&Q)
If you don't connect a water supply to the hot valve (and simply connect the cold water hose to the cold valve leaving the hot valve with nothing connected to it) then some wash programs may not work as some programmes only fill with hot water. However, some washing machines will work OK with only the cold fill hose connected. You can always try it and see. The worse that will happen is the washer could either stick on the odd wash programme or may abort on some. If you do this though it's possible for water to drip out of the hot valve on some machines during fill. It's best to use a y-piece if possible.
The fact that you have connected cold water to the hot valve is irrelevant, the washing machine will not know any different and will just heat the water up to the correct temperature. The washing machine may use slightly more electricity but if it's less than 10 years old it shouldn't be significant unless you use a lot of 60 or 90 degree washes. On 40 degree washes, manufacturers argue it's more efficient to fill with cold water only and slowly heat up the water to 40 degrees.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric

Fills cold and warm but not hot

This is a common problem with hot water lines to washing machines. The hose connecting the washing machine to the hot water supply has a small screen in the inlet of the hose. These are used to keep grit, etc from getting into the washing machine and causing bigger problems.
Here's what to do:
Pull the washing machine away from the wall a little so you can access the shut-off's. Turn off the hot and the cold water valves.
Take the hot water hose off the valve and check the screen in the rubber washer of the inlet hose. Replacement screen/washers are available at local hardware stores for a couple bucks.
You can clean the old ones, just be careful not to damage the rubber washer because that's what keeps your hose from leaking when you reinstall it on your faucet.
While you're at it, clean the cold water screen as well.
REcheck your fill on a hot cycle... you've most likely solved your issue!

Kenmore 80 series washing machine - cannot get

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. This sounds like either the hose or the water inlet valve screen is clogged. Possibly the pinhole inthe diaphram itself of the water valve. Here is what you can do.

1. Get a bucket
2. Turn off BOTH water valves at the wall.
3. Remove the HOT water connection at the water valve. Then check the inlet screen for debris. You can remove the screen from the water valve by using a knife blade on the very outside edge of the screen tugging outward. Hold the screen up to the light check it for debris. If it is dirty wash it under a light flow of water in the sink. DO NOT reinstall just screen just yet.
4. Use a measuring cup or something similar to catch water at the water valve HOT connection. Select a WARM wash cycle and start the wash cycle. Let the water flow into what ever it is you use to catch the water exiting the HOT water connection.
Tap on the cold water hose connection to try and free the debris inside the water valve as the water is flowing. Do this a few times until you have let water back flow through the water valve for about 20 seconds.

Machine timer off.

5. Reinstall the inlet screen in the water valve and reconnect the hose. Place the HOT water hose in the bucket and start the WARM fill cycle again. This will flush the hose.

Machine timer off.

6. Reconnect the hose at the wall connection and turn on the water at the wall.

7. Select HOT wash and test water flow. It should by now be (fingers crossed) flowing.

You can repeat the above for the cold water side if you need to.

Thanks for using FixYa,

Kelly

Where is the filter located on my hoover AL120 washing machine?

i assume you're having problems with (probably hot) water intake into your machine. if so- either hot or cold-or both). there are 'semi-circle' mesh inserts at both your hot and cold water connectors on the back of the machine- you'll need to move your machine, if needed to allow access to these connections (where your hoses screw on). then, if you have shut-offs for the water supplies to your washer, turn them off! expect a little leakage from the hoses! if no shutoffs- turn off main water supply and open up an outside faucet, until it drains down! you may want to unfasten the water lines to the washer, and keep them elevated for a while until the water drains from them! (after doing the previous things!) you'll see- in the inlet s a mesh screen, see if they're 'crudded up' with mineral deposits- if so, get a hat-pin or some thing similar and pry them out- use an old toothbrush to loosen any deposits you see clogging them, and tap them to remove deposits! perhaps place them in a vinegar solution to help dissolve them! when they're clean- replace them- re-connect water lines- hand tight- or a little more- don't break the nylon outside threaded connectors on the back of the washer, or your looking at a more expensive and tedious job!
turn your shut-offs on, or your outside main shut-off, and hopefully, your drum will fill with great vigor!!
don't forget your outside hose faucet, if you needed to 'drain' it down! if 'outflow'- drainage is the problem then it could be a small article of clothing, or junk, in your drain pump- could also be a failed drain pump- you didn't specify whether it was input or output. just guessed!
good luck!!

Which is better a top loader or front loader washing machine?

Front Loading Washing Machine: Fully automatic.
1. Better washing than toploading as technologically proofed.
2. No extra effort except putting cloths and detergent inside.
3. No need to observe in between while washing. Start and forgot. You can go market and come back.
4. No issue if electricity or water went out during washing.
4. Take more water compare to toploading semi-automatic.
5. You can not open it once it started.

Top Loading Washing Machine: Semi
1. Save water and detergent.
2. Need extra effort to put the cloth from one box to another.
