Wont start says windows\system32\config\system file is missing or corrupt and i dont have setup cd please help

Your Windows installation has been corrupted, therefore you need to repair the installation with the aid of an orginal Microsoft Windows CD. A Computer technician will be able to do this for you. Claim warranty support if you can.

Take care!

Hello, i have a acer aspire 6920g and it doesn't start up it does come up with stuff but it says, Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt...

You could use the repair feature on the recovery partition, when booting up press F11 and that should take you into it, just choose "repair" and this should replace the missing file/s.

If F11 does not work try ALT + F10 when booting up.

Hope this helps

Put the original setup CD-ROM into your CD-drive.
Restart the computer.
Tell it to "boot" from the disk in the CD-drive.
Choose "repair an existing Windows installation",
and let it fix the problem.
Remove the CD-ROM disk.
Restart your (repaired) computer.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM
Select “r” at the first screen to repair

So then i click r at the first screen and nothing happens...It keeps on repeating to repair on and on with the same message after i clicked r. I can't even access to the window...what can i do???

\Windows\System32\Config\System; Repair w/CD-ROM; NO CD-ROM

if you can get an external cd/dvd drive from a friend, then you could solve the problem.

other solutions would mean that you will reinstall windows again. This takes more time and has a few tricks to be done from a flash drive.

It won't boot

Hello maybelle,

Your system is corrupted, files needed to boot up windows was corrupt or it was deleted accidentally, the only solution that can correct the problem is provide installation disc(windows installer) and insert it to the CD ROM and boot your system to CD DOM and follow the the on screen instruction.
(note: installation of Operating system can lost your important files, back up the files)

installation of OS refer to this info: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx

please do not rate me if the solution not solve the problem.

if need more info, please notify me, i will give you more information.

best regards.

Windows. file missing or corrupt system32 config

If you're running XP, boot to the XP cd, if available (if not, mail me and I can send you a dell XP disc)
Pass the first repair opportunity, press f8, then it should allow you to do a windows repair. Do that. You will keep all your files, but windows will be completely reloaded. Will need to get updates, but that's it.
Good luck
