SOURCE: I have a craftsman garage door opener and recently

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn't work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.

Or a remote in someone

Door stopped working when I was trying to adjust the door. Blinking yellow light on the overhead unit

The motor has a thermal overload that will turn it off it if starts to overheat. Normally a 15 or 20 minute rest and it will automatically reset. The blinking yellow light may be sending a code. If it blinks 5 times and then pauses and then repeats it is the overload.

I have a Sears Garage door opener (139.53800SRT)was working and then just quit working. None of the remotes or wall switch work. When I press a switch I hear a few click in the opener and then nothing. ...

The code for 5 flashes is " Motor overheated or possible RPM sensor failure. Unplug to reset." Also if the door is stuck in the open position it could be the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit.

Craftsman garage door opener will not work. model # 139.53648SRT2

The code it is sending by flashing 5 times is 'RPM sensor or motor overload'. Is the door stuck in the open position?

Liftmaster door stopped working. hear click, and flashing led yellow light.

Take the cover off and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. It may be stripped or you could have a bad logic board especially if you have had storms in your area.

Craftsman 1/2 horsepower not working

Five flashes indicates possible RPM sensor failure. First try unplugging opener for five minutes and plug back in. If it still does not work replace RPM sensor.

Door opener moves foward about 10 inches then returns

UNPLUG THE UNIT FOR ABOUT 5 MIN. TO RESET TRY TO OPERATE IF IT STILL MOVES 6-8 INCHES AND FLASHES 5 TIMES THE RPM SENSOR IS YOUR PROBLEM - COULD JUST BE THE CUP HAS MOVED ON THE SHAFT. IF IT IS IN PLACE AND STILL NOT WORKING REPLACE THE PICKUP.
