Question about Whirlpool Kitchen Ranges

Whirlpool range problem

Have Whirlpool GLP8580 Range.6 years old.
Control pannel does not show any lights.
Range top works without any problems.
Power reset did not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks you.

    Thanks for your feedback.

There are no lights at all on the panel.

Keypad does not respond at all.

There is nothing on the display.

This happened after power failure in the neighborhood.

Couple times previously some kind of strange errors would come up, but power reset would "fix" it.

    But not this time.

When you say "check the connection and see what happens after you unnplug the connector and reattach" - do you mean to un-plug the stove and plug it back in? Or plug and unplug some kind of connecter for the panel and/or controller?

I did try to plug unplug the stove for more than 4 hours and plug it back in - did not help.

As I have previously mentioned - stove top works fine, but not display/panel. And, I guess oven, as there is no way to turn it on.

Could there be some kind of breaker which failed and which only used for control/panel, but not stove top?

If you where to touch bake, does the unit turn on? Or is the keypad none responsive? I would say if the keypad is non responsive you have a bad keypad. Can you check the connection and see what happens after you unnplug the connector and reattac. Does the lights light back up? Do you have a Display? If the Display is not working could be a possible bad controller.

no. I mean take the control panel down and detattch the ribbon cable from the controller. usually it's green. But if the display does not show then you more than likly have a bad display controller the board that is behind the touch panel. you will need to pull the range out. take the back plate off where the controller is. locate the controller. Find the ribbon cable. detached from board. Make sure you do not have any power. If you are familiar with electrical find the L1 and nuetral going to the board see if you have 120volts going to it. If you do you have a bad display controller replace this.

The top burners are in a different curcuit than the board. So your main problem is 90percent a board issue

The broiler element comes on by itself when the power is on--it will not turn off unless I turn the power off at the breaker. The bottom element does not come on at all. I get no codes on the display

You have a bad broil-element relay on the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) - the contacts have welded shut (closed). You will need to replace the EOC.

Whirlpool Gold electric range control panel not working

I live in a new 500 home subdivision. The contractor ordered all Whirlpool Gold products including Electric and Electric/Gas Ranges. Many of my neighbors' panels have gone out! I'm talking about epedemic trouble. My son has had his oven panel (separate from stovetop) fail within the first year. Thank God it was under warranty...this is not a cheap replacement (he had the sensor touch pad. I just had my oven pad fail. I tried to set the clock for Daylight Savings and found out half my panel is out! The fix is a replacement of the panel. Depending on which model (push or sensor) look to spend at least a couple of hundred bucks. We have the Whirlpool Gold microwave panel and so far so good. My neighbor and my son's both went out! They just tossed the two year old products and replaced them with another brand. Sorry to break you the news...class action anyone?

Start button does not work on whirlppol range

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

Whirlpool cooktop, built in oven and range

sounds like the clock is defective. ovens don't have a built in UPS, like computers, so when the power goes out, it usually takes the clock with it.

have a technician replace it.

Error code F3-E4 Whirlpool Electric Range RF388LXKQ

the solution that the recommended appliance reapir person told me for my whirlpool electric range oven not coming on and a display of E1 F1 was to replace the digital control center with new one for $425, this is after an $89 service call to just tell me what was wrong. Since the range cost only $645 I will probably instead learn to bake with the convection part of teh microwave /convection oven I got last year for $295, and hope the obsolescence engineer at whirlfool has a burnt thanksgiving turkey and fallen cakes. this problem w/ the oven not working occurred while I was on vacation and the power company had a light out problem in our neighborhood then I guess sent a power surge back on and did my six year old oven in. Should have kept my old simple gas range.
