I just follow the paper clip trick (took the batteries out, connect the + and - with th epaper clip, then turn it off). After clearing all the program memory and turned it on & off, it worked fine.

As for the wrong payment value, could you post an example? It's hard to tell which setting you may have wrong without some numbers.

HP 3G reset

Press and hold the ON and the top-row-third-key-from-the-left keys simultaneously, and then release them.If that doesn't do it, press and hold the ON, top-row-leftmost, and top-row-right-most keys simultaneously, and then release them.It that doesn't do it, turn the calculator over. Straighten a paper clip and poke it into the small hole below the bump (upper-right). Hold it there for a second and then remove. (You may have to do one or both of the keyboard steps above as well).

"ON" button doesn't work; calculator won't

In most cases this cannot be economically repaired... the cost to repair would be more then the calculator is worth...

How to fix a none responsive button in hp 35s calculator

Resetting the Calculator
If the calculator doesn't respond to keystrokes or if it is otherwise behaving unusually, attempt to reset it. Resetting the calculator halts the current calculation and cancels program entry, digit entry, a running program, a SOLVE calculation, an ∫ FN calculation, a VIEW display, or an INPUT display. Stored data usually remain intact.

To reset the calculator, hold down the C key and press GTO . If you are unable to reset the calculator, try installing fresh batteries. If the calculator cannot be reset, or if it still fails to operate properly, you should attempt to clear memory using the special procedure described in the next section. If the calculator still does not respond to keystrokes, use a thin, pointed object to press the RESET hole.
The calculator can reset itself if it is dropped or if power is interrupted.

If the calculator fails to respond to keystrokes, and you are unable to restore operation by resetting it or changing the batteries, try the following MEMORY CLEAR procedure. These keystrokes clear all of memory, reset the calculator, and restore all format and modes to their original, default settings (shown below):
  1. Press and hold down the C key.
  2. Press and hold down the R/S key
  3. Press i (You will be holding three keys simultaneously)
  4. When you release all three keys, the display shows MEMORY CLEAR if the operation is successful.

My calculator does not give the right answer as in the textbook.1-n 12 % 210000 fv but the pv is incorrect ? should be 187500 but i get 207920 ?

207920 is the correct result for one month at 12%, compounded monthly. 187500 is the result for one year at 12%, compounded annually. Set P/Y to 1 and try again.

Too few arguments appeat when turn on the HP 48gx calculator

This calculator uses RPN (reverse polish notation) not algebraic notation.
If say you want to calculate 12+13, you proceed as follows
12 [ENTER] 13 + : the claculator displays 25
12 [ENTER] 13 x : displays 156

Also if you use a function like sinus or cosinus
12 [ENTER] cos displays the value (depending on the angle unit you are using).

I think you need to read a little more on the RPN before you get accustomed to this way of doing thing. The best reference is your calculator Getting started manual.

Hope it helps.
