no its not a driver you have a video chip getting ready to fail.on the v2000 it intergrated in to the mother board. soon you will be joining many other compaq v2000 and m2000 owners in the search for a mother board compaq has updated part numbers it a whole differant board for these units due to having a common failure rate of the original mother boards.Compaq know there was a over heating of the video chip that leads to failure but has not offered any assistance to there customers. firstname.lastname@example.org
No problem in replacing the RAM chip modules, just make sure you ground yourself so you don't have any static electrical charge when you handle the memory modules.
Just power off the laptop before you remove and replace the RAM.
You won't lse anything as the info. is stored on the hard disk..
