GoGear question response

I can understand a bit more than simple computer language so I would love to know how to break up DVD's into 15 minute increments to put on the player as well. Thanks much for your assistance.

Use video editing software - the instructions are different for each program.

What programming language is good for starters?

C
(for starters... c-family... C++ to UNIX)...

If you are a blank slate... you will need to trust (know) that a
"computer" can only count to ONE... (speaks binary: raw data)... and everything beyond that is so people can understand... what that meant... when it counted that ONE (or not).

Successful machine level "instruction" gives off a "POSITIVE" signal... (or not)... Other than a "successful" instruction will trigger a different response... (and now you are computing)
((only a whole lot deeper than that... but just as simple)).
(((in a language of all 0 &1... binary.. Nothing ELSE))).

I say this because... as you learn the language (any of them) you need to know that the it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with HOW the computer works... not even why it works...

Merely that you can write & insert a TASK...

Understanding that frees you to go deeply into the language!!
and...
It is fun!

programming language

Due regards to Dr. Hamming & Dr. Parity # (parity = joke)
(don't bother with how... its pretty simple... actually... It can only count to one (and it will be faster & different next week)!

Phillips Gogear SA2920 has got stuck in a foreign language like Chinese or Japanese. All menu options in tis language. Can anyone help with this?

Hello,

the truth is, no one will be able to help if they don't understand Chinese or Japanese.

The best thing for you to do now is to look for someone that has exactly the same type of your Philip Gogear, that is also in English language.

Go to the menu, look for the languages settings and locate where English can be selected on the Player.

Follow the same steps on your player and you will get to where you will select English on our player.

This is what I do for phones that is not in English language, and I have used it to solve a lot of problems. It works for me big time.

Give it a trial and your problem would be solved.

I wish you the best of luck.

I have a phillips gogear and would like to know how to put youtube videos on it

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.

The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk.

If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs.

This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them.

Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website.

Tired downloading

Just a suggestion, but you obviously posted this problem in the wrong section, because the SA178 does not support video. For other SA models, however:
First, The Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter that came with the installation CD is used for converting and transferring video files specifically to your device. If you have lost the CD, grab the updated Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com.

Second, even that Media Converter cannot handle a full-length DVD. You will have to acquire a video editing software that will allow you to break the video into 15-minute chunks. Run each chunk through the Media Converter and you will have to watch the video in 15-minute pieces.

Good luck!

Dvd does not play

Three problems - the Media Converter will not correctly convert videos over 15 minutes long, it will not recognize the DVD's file structure, and it cannot play copyright-encrypted video files. This player is more for YouTube-style videos. Here is a workaround:
1) Use video editing software to break the DVD file into 15-minute chunks
2) Run the chunks through Riva FLV Encoder - convert it to AVI format, and make sure sound is enabled
3) Run the Riva-converted chunks through the Philips Media Converter
4) You can now watch your movie in 15-minute chunks - I hope you chose filenames that allow the files to be played in sequential order

Have fun!

Loading dvds on to Go Gear 4 GB

Simple language - the mp3 player came with a CD - it has a program on it that converts video called Philips Media Converter - unfortunately, it will not convert a whole DVD - it can only convert 15 minute or less, You-Tube type videos

If you didn't insist on simple language, I would tell you how to break your DVD into 15 minute chunks so you could put it on the Philips, but you are probably too simple to figure it out
