I needto get a schematic for my gateway motherboard. I need the pinout/signals for the 7 pin battery connector. Can you help me with this? MB part nbr is 3507054R

If this holds to be true, the BLUE header, below the CMOS battery, and close to the outside edge of the motherboard, is ONE USB header.
Indicates Internal.

The Yellow header to the right of it, is the Front Panel USB header.

EACH USB header has contact pins on it, for TWO USB ports.

Does not matter which USB header we are talking about here, on that motherboard.

To identify the pinout, look for the missing pin in the header.
This is the KEY pin.

T - SATA Connectors
A SATA data connector on the motherboard has 7 contact pins.
Between it, and the SATA power cable, the SATA data cable's connector is shorter in width,

Note the L shaped slot in the SATA data cable's connector, at top;
and the corresponding L-shaped locating lug on the motherboard connector, shown at bottom.

The SATA power cable's connector has a Lock tab on top. Squeezed down with the thumb tip to release when removing.

Looking at the 6 SATA connectors on the motherboard, you will note they are marked in-between the connectors, and at the outside edge of the motherboard. SATA_1, SATA_3, SATA_5, SATA_2, etc.

If using more than 1 harddrive, the harddrive that has the Operating System, is generally plugged into SATA_1.

The beauty of SATA is however, that you can plug whatever SATA device you want, into whatever SATA connector on the motherboard, and BIOS will find the device.

Mean, for one,that you can plug the harddrive with the O/S into SATA_3, or SATA_6, or SATA_4, etc; and BIOS will still find it.

Motherboard in the Top view is shown as it is, when installed in a computer case. Go above the top of the Processor socket to the edge of the motherboard, then over to the left.

Whitish square 4-socket hole connector.
4-pin ATX +12 Volt.

Above the top right corner of the Processor socket, and between the edge of the motherboard is the CPU_FAN connector.

Front Panel header bottom/right corner of motherboard

The four Yellow USB headers are to the left of the Front Panel header.

The Black Firewire (IEEE 1394) header is to the left of the USB headers.

The SYSTEM_FAN white connector is to the left of the Firewire connector.

SPDIF_OUT connector to the left of the System Fan connector.

F_AUDIO red connector to the left of the SPDIF connector

To the right of the Blue and Yellow ram memory slots, is the 24-pin ATX main power cable connector. To the right of it is the Black 34-pin Floppy Drive connector.

Below the Floppy Drive connector is the Blue 40-pin IDE connector.

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front panel go to, is the Front panel header.

If you need the pinout for the Front Panel header, click on -
S- Front Panel Connector

Looking at the different colors on the Front Panel header, and matching pin numbering;
Pin 2 = Orange with Yellow + sign.
Pin 4 is solid Orange.
Pin 6 is Green.
Pin 8 is Green
There is NO Pin 10.

Pin 1 is Red with a Yellow + sign.
Pin 3 is solid Red
Pin 5 is Blue
Pin 7 is Blue
Pin 9 is solid Yellow.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected. Reserved for +5 Volts, and factory use.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED. (Light)
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the PWR ON LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

F) There is No Pin 10. Just a blank spot. (Yellow)

Click on B - Processor Core Power, for the 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable connector, location on the motherboard.

On the U - Intrusion Switch Connector?
I believe the style of switch used, is if it is open, then the computer will not work.
Therefore connect a small wire to those two pins.
(Same thing as the switch is Closed)

Need Molex female metal terminals?

Could I be wrong about how the switch works? Yes.
Could be the alternate style where the switch is open, and removing the computer case cover, closes it.
In this case do not connect a jumper wire.

All the other wiring connections are shown.

I've got a new Gigabyte Ga-M68Mt-D3 mobo paired with a cooler master 460 watt power supple. Cpu is Amd phenom II 3.2 ghz with 4 gig of DDR3 ram. I powered up the supply attached to my ATX power supply...


Most motherboards now have a 24-pin power supply connector. If you haven't already found a diagram showing the pinouts of the 20- and 24-pin power plugs, here's one borrowed from a handy site:

The two plugs are essentially the same, but the 24-pin version duplicates some voltages on the extra pins. The extra pins in the larger connector were meant to provide extra current paths for voltages that see heavy loads from newer processors and motherboard circuitry. Depending on how a motherboard is designed, it might work with a 20-pin plug connected (leaving pins 11, 12, 23 and 24 empty). But typically if the board has a 24-pin connector it needs the 24-pin power supply plug.

Most power supplies have a 20-pin plug with a separate 4-pin section that fastens to it for connection to a 24-pin mobo connector. It typically has one side designed to slide onto the end of the 20-pin plug, essentially turning it into the 24-pin version. This added plug does not have a retaining clamp on its side, so you can tell it from the the 4-pin CPU power plug. The wire colors are also different. For reference, here is the processor power plug, from the same website:

New motherboard specs call for the separate processor power connector for the same reason the extra pins were added to the power supply connector: to handle the high currents needed by increasingly faster CPUs.

When the motherboard has these connectors, you need to use them all to get everything working. Hope this helps. Thanks to smspowersupply.com for the diagrams, and thank you for using Fixya.

Need pinouts


I have an old pc chips M575 motherboard that also uses the J3 ATX Form card. I can only assume the pinouts are the same so here they are from the manual.

Pins 1-4 and 10- 13 are USB connectors
USB USB

Pins 5-6 and 15-16 are PS/2 Mouse Connector
