Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

No internal hard disk found after laptop is closed?

I turned my Dell Inspiron 1525 on, and everything ran like normal. I got done, and instead of shutting the machine down, I just closed the laptop, causing it to go to sleep. Well, normally, I open the laptop back up, and it wakes up and nothing is wrong. However, every once in a while, I'll open it back up and there is a black screen that says something like "no internal hard disk found." After removing the battery to turn off the laptop, it comes up normally. The diagnostics suggested to reseat the hard drive, and I did that yesterday, hoping to fix the problem. The fix has not seemed to work, as the laptop has had this error again today. Thanks!

Same thing, they sent me a new hard drive..And the prob started up again. And they want 50$ just to talk to them. And the customer server wasn't friendly and didn't help. Going to try and remove optical drive.

I shut down my computer properly, closed it, and two minutes later wanted to turn it back on and received that same error message "No internal hard drive found." I then held the power button to force power-off, and then restarted it, and only on the second try did my computer load up again. I recently had some other issues with Vista Ultimate and had to reformat my computer, so is this related to that reformat?

Hi,
To fix this problem you would need to try this.
*Run the psa test
1. press the 'fn' key and power key together, it will automatically launch a diagnostic test, follow the onscreen instructions confirm if it comes with any error code (it should come up with 0141 error code if it is a hard drive problem).
2. check the hard drive status in bios (check if it is being detected). To do this you would need to switch on the laptop and start tapping F2 key (multiple times, especially at dell logo). this will lead you to bios. using the down errow key on the keyboard, go to device info and check the first option on the right hand side (primary hard drive). confirm if it is detecting the hard drive or it says none or unknown.
3. Remove the optical drive by following the link (support.euro.dell.com) and check if it works after removing the optical drive. This is because optical drive can cause the hard drive not to work properly as they are interconnected with each other.
Once you have performed the above steps, confirm so that I can suggest you the rest of the steps accordingly.

Regards,
Musheer.

SOURCE: I ran diagnostics on my Dell Inspiron 1525.

1. reseat the ram
2. at the buttom part of the laptop you will see a window covered which will allow you to remove and have the ram be reseated.
3. take out 1 ram firs then run test then run again the test using the other slot. please test each ram on each slot. check if the faulty if the ram or either of the rams of one of the slots. if both ram passed on one of the slots means that ram is ok and slot is not, so then replace the motherboard. if one ram errors on a slot which the ram passed then that ram might be faulty and needs replacement.

I have reseated the hard drive in my inspiron 1525 laptop and it still says internal hard disk drive not found. what can i do?

Hello,
You might need to borrow another hard disk drive from your friend or relatives and try it on your laptop. If it still does not work, then we can assume that the laptop needs repair with the hard disk drive port.
Hope this helps in resolving the issue...

Laptop dell 1525 : power on but no hard drive activity, then later turns on normally (window vista ,normal)and then frozen and after restart no hard activity again but power is on???

You can try running the DELL diagnostics which came with the computer or you can download them off another computer from the dell support website.
Once you get in the diagnostics package. Check the Hard drive, there will be a few testing parameters for the disk check them all.
If the hard drive fails in even 1 test, note down the error code and provide it to dell support who will replace the hard disk if it is still under warranty.
If you dont have warranty then you may need to buy a hard-drive yourself and have it fixed.

The hard drive may have failed or a virus has corrupted the Cmos data.
Try entering the BIOS and checking that the Cmos recognises that the hard drive is there. If it doesn't, remove the hard drive and re fit it, booting up again.

No internal hard disk found during booting when i am going to format

It is possible that the HD has failed completely. However, this is a relatively new laptop, so I would suspect that is not the case. Sometimes the HD will lose contact for one reason or another. This can usually be cured by removing the HD and reinstalling it, which will remove any crud from the contacts.

If the machine is still under warranty, call Dell support. They will walk you through diagnostics to determine the actual problem.
