Question about Linksys CIT200 IP Wireless Phone

Problems with linksys phone starting up and making calls using it

Every time my computer starts up cit200 takes FOREVER "searching for skype". When it eventually finds it, it still does not always allow me to make calls. It will say "busy" or "internal error" and most of the time just comes up with an engaged tone whenever I try to use it.

i also have another linksys phone (cit400) which does not work through the computer but directly through the modem. Sometimes this allows me to make calls but of late when I try to make a call it takes forever "connecting", rings once and then once connected I cannot hear any sound but the person on the other end can hear me.

I have reinstalled skype but the problem still exists. What can I do?

I'm just guessing here but, you'll have better luck if you don't go through a hub. Give the CIT devices direct connections to the computer. Also, some systems have better/faster usb ports on the back of the pc and lesser ones on the front. I think this is no long tru on newer systems. ..You may also want to go through the device manager, delete the CIT and rescan so it'll reinstall it.. maybe better. When you do that, be sure the CIT is connected. ..maybe this'll help your situations. The software needs to have been installed prior to re-installing via the device manager.

I bought a webcam but I don`t know how to start to go to skype or take picture or connect to computer. Does not have a C D , just usb


If the Webcam does not include a CD, the drivers (the software that runs the webcam) should install itself automatically when you plug in the drive. If you are on windows, make sure you have Windows Update enabled so that it can search for the right drivers.

Linksys Wireless Skype Phone CIT200 says disconnected

Go to your Skype account
> Tools
> Options
> Advanced
> Manage other programs access to Skype
> Double Click on cit 200.exe
> Allow this program to use skype

This should make it work.

I got the same problem with my CT200 when I updated for Vista. (disconnected) The solution I found is: I avoid logging on to MSN. If the problem still persists I take out the batteries from the phone wait for 10 seconds , reinsert them and the phone works. Hope this helps.

This may help .. Open Control Panel and open the Sounds and Audio Devices item. If you have separate Voice and Audio tabs showing, set the Voice for the CIT200 and Audio to your Sound Card. I'm viewing this in win XP. Vista probably differs somewhat.
Hope that helps out some.

The problem has been solved .. . thank you . The hand set had in fact been somehow un registered from the 'Sender ' . I looked up how to register the hand set ( no way would I have thought of holding down the page button on sender for a few seconds , actually until it starts to flash and then you have (via the menu ) to get the hand set into register mode ( you will need your PIN no. if you changed it from factory default ! If you haven't changed it then factory default is ' 0000' ) . . . punch that in to the hand set and then bingo , they are in touch again . . . .

It took HOURS to get it right . . . I tried removing CIT200 and Skype and then reload into computer . . . and I'm not sure now if I have the upgrade or not of CIT200 . . . this morning had the on going problem of phone saying ' unavailable ' and the only way out of this is to reboot my computer . . . that mostly works ! Apart from these BIG niggles the system is clear and good when all configured . . . NOT found the answer to the Niggles yet ! . . . . . ( Why no hard copy of the user manual . . . ridiculous!)

Reseting my linksys

You may have to close the CIT200 program by right-clicking it's icon in the system tray .. then log into the 2nd Skype account and restart the CIT200 program.
*shrug* This might do the trick for your situation.
