What are the matheatical units in a computer

Hi John, a computer work with a binary system, bits and bytes. With electricity, it can only be on or off, charged or discharged.

All maths functions that is used in software have to be converted to the base binary system for the processor to do calculations. Does this answer your question?

If not, please elaborate on your question.

Dear! It show perfect because 1Gb = 1024 MB so if you calculate it you will find it equal to 298 GB because it is binary system shows while vendors account 1GB = 1000 MB but we format it according to binary machine language so that's equal to 298GB. I hope you have make sense.
Thank You

It has to do with the way computers count. Computers count in binary where we count in decimal.
Hard drive makers list there drives capacities in the decimal format, where windows lists it in it's binary format.
Wikipedia has a good explanation.

Also, the drive may have some preinstalled software on it that could be taking up a bit of space (it's usually not much).
