Its A Xbox Scratcher

Hi, my Xbox i think is broken or something because it keeps scratching my discs. I got for Christmas a couple of the new and some old big hit sellers including
1. Call Of Duty 5-World At War
2. Need For Speed-Undercover
3. Halo 3
And a week or two ago, the Xbox scratched Call Of Duty and now its got a big ring on the disc and i mean it just stopped me in mid game. Telling me game unreadable. So as anyone would be a bit annoyed and left it for a bit.

I thought it was just a cowinsadince because the Xboz fell over when the game was still inside. Then it did Need For Speed and following Halo 3.

I wouldnt of thought that just a little fall would reck three much-loved games. I didnt know what to do... my older brother didnt know what to do my parents do know anything about the Xbox (they cant tell the differance between A,B,X,Y.) and my oldest brother doesnt have the time at the moment to look at it.

Is there anyone who this is happned to and they have fixed it? Anyway thank you very much for reading and well please help if you can..

Many thanks
DBYFAM (our Xbox Live Name.)

P.s If you know what to do please message us via Xbox Live :) Or email!

A common problem that XBOX owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “ring of death marks”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but a professional disc repair service is usually required to repair any scratches or laser burn on discs. XBOX laser burn discs can be fixed!!!

Check the “More Info” & “FAQ” Sections for further details on game disc repairs and related matters.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair.
You should contact Microsoft or a games console repair store for assessment and guidelines.

Hope this Helps!!!

Disc is scratched xbox won't read disc is there any solution its a new disc it's scratched I think from the system it's all around the edge

You could try one of those disc repair kits I believe one is called the disc dr or something like that if the error is being caused by scratches that should fix it, if the scratches are too deep however, the disc is no good, to check this simply hold the disc up to the light, if you can see light clearly through the scratch than you know the scratch is too deep

WHEN I GOT A NEW GAME IT WAS WORKING BUT A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IT SAID THE DISC COULD NOT BE READ AND IT TOLD ME TO CLEAN IT WITH A SOFT CLOTH AND RESTART THE CONSOLE AND I DID IT AND IT SAID THE SAME...

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. If there no scratches evident on the disc, try a laser lens cleaner, these are normally quite cheap.

Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. My Xbox 360 keeps scratching my game discs?

Sounds like the xbox console needs the laser adjusted or secured as per the other comments. For any discs issues, read on.

Xbox 360 scratched disk

Hi

If the xbox is under warranty ( Microsoft has extended coverage on those) , have Microsoft fix it.
If it's older , you'll need to find a service that fixes 360s
If the case seal is broken Microsoft wont cover any warranty issues

Inserted disc press play grinding sound and disc left scrapped

If your xbox box it's new I would take it back and get another one, becase you do probable have problems with your dvd drive and it will keep scratching the games. the laser on the drive doesn't work as hard when playing a music cd than when it plays a game or a dvd.

If you don't want to take it back, then play a couple dvds and if it reads then fine then you could try again. it shiudn't take more than ten second to read a game so if its taking longer just get it out.

Xbox360 defective and ruined games.brand new console and games.

Hello.

Xbox DVD-Drive's often scratch circles into your discs and some even got malfunctioning lasers that will burn rings into games.
To prevent the circular scratched from happening avoid moving your console at any time while it is running however it often also occurs just in regular use especially for older consoles with Hitachi or Samsung drives.
As far as I know Microsoft replaces discs that were clearly damaged by a console free of charge, at least here in Europe they do.
Try calling Xbox Customer Support and ask for a replacement it is worth a try for sure even if they shouldnt replace it they will at least give you a 1-month subscription for Xbox LIVE in exchange.

If you can get the console replaced as well depends on the support person you are talking to but usually they charge you for that if you want to fix the drive yourself, open up a PC drive and take the foam pads outs and install them in the 360 drive this will prevent the discs from getting scratched they just didnt use these pads in the Xbox for some reason which led to these problems...

I hope this helps and Good luck!

Kind regards,
