Automatic ice maker doesn't fill with water

once is fills with water it has a timer and a sensor in head of ice maker usualy one load of ice every 3 hours

First thing to check is the fill tube and make sure it is not frozen with ice.some ice makers can be manually advanced in order to refill with water some have a reset button to do this if these two things do no good and the fill tube is not blocked with ice then repalce the water fill valve on the bottom rear of the unit

If the fill pipe that fills the ice maker is in it's proper position, then it is a defective water fill valve located in the bottom rear of the machine.
After harvesting the cubes the ice maker mechanism continues to rotate and turns the water valve on for 7 seconds. If it does not shut off smartly then it can cause the well to overfill, and flow water into the bucket.
Do not let this go. A small leak could turn into a major overflow, even overnight causing serious problems to the machine and as I have seen the entire house.

Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE INLET WATER FILL TUBE ? IT COULD BE FROZEN UP AND THEN NO FILL ACTION. TAKE A HAIR DRIER AND TRY TO THAW IT OUT. GOOD LUCK,

Old message, I'm sure you have solved your problem by now, but . . .
IF Amana/Whirlpool conforms to wiring standards (no guarantees), the main AC wires should be white=neutral, black=hot, red=switched line.  Of course, they already depart with the use of the brown wire.
You should be able to access the 'full' switch at the ice maker itself and as you have found, it will turn on (or off) the fill solenoid.
It would be kind to post back what you found as it might benefit others in the future.

you need a module cant remember the part number off the top of my head but go to repair clinic .com or your local appliance parts dealer with model and serial # in hand it may be quicker for you to get a new ice maker and easier
