Question about AMD Athlon 64bit -3000+ Multimedia Computer PC Desktop

1 Answer

PC lives it's own life

After upgrading a memory from halfGb to 2 Gb, my PC is living it's own life and restarting whenever it wants to do so. It is annoying me very much as I do plenty of complicated work ( watch mechanics and designs) on my PC and can't afford to loose all the job after a few hours work. And it happens frequently.
Even after restarting itself, it freezes (80% of 100%) when the logon sound is played (there is no sound at all!) and I have to restart it by pushing RESTART button on the tower (case).
Any solutions?
P.S. I'm complete idiot regarding to PCs, so, please explain step by step as you would do for a 5year old kid.:)))

Yes, the ram stick(s) was exactly for my PC. I've 2 of them (1Gb each). Anyway I'm giving you the FixYa, 'coz I know how complicated all the stuff is.
If (at any chance) you will have a probs with watches or clocks- email me at:
    artkalnins@yahoo.co.uk
So, what should I do if there is 2 ramstickis?
I do remember running the MemTest quite a long ago, and it did not helped at all(saying everything is fine).

Ok well first of all did you make sure it was the right type of ram stick for that computer model? and if so then try taking that ram stick out and test it with out it if that does not work then run a memtest at http://www.memtest.org/ if there are no errors then test the other ram stick. hope this helps and good luck =)

Toshiba satellite a100,wa-1 memory upgrade

Hi,

Take out all the memory cards and wipe the gold part of the memory modules.

Then insert the two 512 modules & check the memory.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then insert the 1 gb & other one 512 module.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then use the other one gb with the same 512 & check if it shows the correct readings.

Then the two 2 gb modules are fine.

Now insert the two 1 gb modules & check now.

There are ECC type & non-ECC type memory modules are available, chck which one your computer supports & which type you have.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected and fine.

Then you can also swap the slot and check if any memory module is not detectd correctly.

Some have four slots & i dont know how many slots your laptop have.

Good Luck.
