Refer to device documentation. Everything was working fine until yesterday when I tried to print an excel document and it stopped printing (it said error offline). Then someone at HP (over the internet) walked me through getting the printer back online. Now this problem.

no scan option means scan setting are not set on the printer.
Before you can scan directly from the printer control panel, you must have the printer's Full Feature software package installed on your computer .If you ran the installer and installed everything, then scanner software should be installed on the pc.there must be solution center icon on the computer,as well.Below are the troubleshooting steps for no scan options issue.
STEP 1:Download the Scan Diagnostic Utility (click on the link below)http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&lang=en&softwareitem=oj-90927-2download and run the tool.select the product and click on diagnose.if the printer is not in the box.skip this step.
STEP 2: Set up the scan destination list
click on the solution center icon on the computer
click on settings on the bottom, click on scan settings, click on either scan..to setup or button settings
click on scan to setup (front panel list)
if this is what you have, then you should transfer all items on the left- hand side to the right-side by clicking on one item and clicking on add until everything is transferred.click on update device.
it should look like this.
try scanning to pc again
you can also try to scan from the pc using the solution center software
if the steps above fails, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the software or check this link out for no scan options
hi there, check your printer whether everything is fine with it, meaning check the ink, check if it can print. somehow with HP's all-in-one printer, when one function can't be used, the others can't too. check and let me know.
This happens mainly when you try to scan from the printer ; Always try to scan from HP solution center but still here is the resolution: Open Hp Solution center Click on Settings Click on scn settings click on Scan to Setup Select all the option available to updrade the Front panel menu list and click on ADD Click on Update; Restart the computer and the printer and try to scan. It should resolve the issue.
Uninstall everything that has to do with your old HP printer, drivers, photo processing, etc. Reinstall software with J4580 printer. That should open HP Digital Imaging Monitor where you can set scanning options. Plug printer into the back opf your computer. Plug power supply directly into the wall socket.
