Click START. Go to RUN. Type in Command. Then OK. When command box appears type after existing text: ipconfig /flushdns (exactly as here). Click ENTER.

Now restart your PC, and reset your router if you have one.

Your dns cache has a corrupt entry for the site you are trying to reach. If you want to see the difference go ipconfig /displaydns before and after flushdns.

Don't ask me how the corruption occurs. I only know it seems to happen when you leave yourself logged in to a site for an extended period during which for some reason your internet connexion fails. But this is only circumstantial evidence.

    'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

It's a corrupted DNS cache in your Windows Vista.

Click on Microsoft Vista Start on the bottom left corner
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt
A black window will appear with a prompt.
At the prompt type: ipconfig/flushdns
You should get a message that says:
Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

When flushing your DNS in vista, click start, accessories and right click on command prompt and then run as administrator, then type "ipconfig/flushdns". It won't work if you don't do it as administrator even if you have an administrator account.
The link problem is due to Facebook testing new code. If you edit the add-bar when an error occurs it will then work. Just include the word "new".
i.e, instead of www.app.facebook/..............
change it to;
www.app.new.facebook/.......................
and then reload the page.

Oops Link appears to be broken fix I am not a programmer or all that when it comes to computers. But the following is what worked for me to get around the issue. Worked on my XP and Windows 7 Machine with IE8. I figured it out because I read somewhere that the issue is embedded in the cookies on IE and not within the google toolbar itself. On IE Tools----->Internet options Internet options------>General TAB General -------> Browsing History Browsing History -----> delete Uncheck Preserve favorite website data Check all others Intent is to delete all history and forms and passwords. Delete all, shut down IE, restart it. This worked for me, but I do not know why or if it will work for you.

Perserverance! After searching the web I found this solution. In XP, go to My Computer and the Control Panel. Click on Network Connections tab, and then to whatever connection link you have. Find the "repair" and click on it. The techno wizards know it resets something important and deletes whatever bad link code was blocking your entrance to a website that seemed to work for everybody EXCEPT you and YOUR computer. Of course I also bought a clean your registry program, deleted cookies and even switched from IE to Firefox in my attempt to solve my program....but hitting "repair" in the network connections tab worked...at least for now. Stay tuned!

    Oh yes! I almost forgot. Don't forget to re-start your computer after you repair your network connection.

I tried Solution #2. That made the 'Oops' Error change to a Error from Windows saying I had a Connection problem. That Error had a Button to 'Diagnose Network Problems'. I tried that, and one of the options was to Reset my Network Adapter. I selected that option and the problem was fixed. Apparently my adapter or Router had intermittent problems and a Reset fixed them.

SUERTE!

Hello. After many attempts, I applied this solution and the problem was solved:

1) Uninstall PdfForge Toolbar (in my case, it was installed without my permission with the PDF Creator, I didn't realised)
2) Go to the Network Adapter Settings / Properties / TCP IPv4 and change DNS from automatic to this: 008.008.008.008 and this (alternative): 008.008.004.004.
3) Reboot Internet Explorer (close and open it again).

The problem must be solved. Sorry for the translation.

    on Firefox you can also (temporarily) disable the PdfForge Toolbar via Tools>Add-ons>Extensions: select 'pdfforge Toolbar' and click 'Disable' next to it. Restart Firefox.

Microsoft has recently issued a Malware Removal Tool in its Windows Update. That took care of the problem for a couple of weeks. I'm beginning to see those broken links again, but hitting back and then the link again has remedied the failures. I might need to run that Malware Removal Tool again, but it takes a while!

Ok this worked for me after hours of being cut off of what seemed like random sites that worked for me yesterday. I had google chrome and ie8 and was getting the oops button on some sites. sites i like. and i guess i read it was a google thing and that if i went to the little wrench on my toolbar and clicked on it and Oops! This link appears broken.DNS - google-toolbar-icon.png Click on this and select Options. Where it says Provide Suggestions on Navigation Errors - deselect it. That will cure this fake error messages. it did for me, but obviously many different things can cause it.

Hi, are you following a link in an email, typing it it by hand, or relying on a link in your browser?
A, The link may be broken (it's mispelled, or taking you somewhere else);
B, It may be that you've miss-spelled it;
C, The link may have cookies disabled. (some sites require cookies to be enabled on your computer).
D, go via link for more info:- http://www.buzzle.com/articles/dns-error.html

A, - ignore this;
B, double check;
C, go into your "tools", internet options, browsing history, and click on "delete". This will clear ALL your history, including saved passwords on sites that you use regularly - BE WARNED!!! Try Facebook again.
D, do what the link says (technical stuff)...

IF, however you are trying from certain computers (like at work / libraries), they may have excluded Facebook / Myspace / Twitter etc from being accessed, due to possible virus infections.

Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.

The servers are located in the network by using it's ip address.
Using names for the domains is easier for humans.
A Domain Name Server (DNS) keeps track of the server ip address related with the domain name.
When an error occurs finding the corresponding ip address for the domain name, youll get the message "Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.".

Oops this link appears to be broken dns error - cannot find server windows 7 explorer 8

The error refers to the Domain Name Server (DNS) that your system uses is unable to translate the Uniform Resource Locator (URL, web address either Typed in the address line or linked using a hyper-link, favorite or default home page) (In english, the translation of a web address link www.google.com to the Internet Protocol (IP) address that computers actually use to show the page)
Possible causes:
  1. The URL is wrong. (Typed wrong, link no longer active, link changed)
  2. The DNS server listed for your ISP configuration is not working.
  3. The web site is offline.
  4. The DNS server settings for your internet configuration are wrong.
Possible resolutions:
  1. Try a different Web Address, see if it works
  2. Restart (Completely power off your Cable/DSL modem and then do the same with your router)
  3. Check you IP address configuration settings and ensure that auto-assign DNS is selected (Default setting)
  4. Boot to safe mode with networking, see if you can get online that way.

If a DNS error is showing, the web site you are visiting is having a problem. It happens with the best of sites. If you are asking for a way to stop Google's suggestions there is a way to do that as well but Google is not the cause of the DNS error.
